It’s been
months weeks days a few hours since we last posted about Madonna and you know how she can be if we go too long without writing about her… So today in What’s Up With Madonna, Inc., AKA Queerty, we’ve been treated to 37 minutes of previously-unseen footage from her 1993 video for “Rain,” the moody fifth single from her 1992 album Erotica.
Hot on the stilettos of last week’s leak of unseen “Vogue” footage, many are wondering who’s responsible for this sudden surplus of vintage video goodness. Is Madonna behind it in an effort to drum up interest in her upcoming Rebel Heart tour? Perhaps its her recently retired publicist Liz Rozenberg who is throwing caution to the wind while clearing out her office. Maybe Madge’s mischievous brother Christopher Ciccone? Who can say? Life is a mystery, as she once sang. Also, there’s this red herring: The “Rain” clip was uploaded to Rutube, a web video streaming service targeted to Russian speakers.
Regardless, this is getting to be a habit we can get used to. If Goddess is listening, here’s what we want next:
• Outtakes from “Open Your Heart,” “Express Yourself,” “Deeper and Deeper” and “Justify My Love”
• Blu-ray of HBO’s Madonna – Live! Blond Ambition World Tour 90
• Deleted scenes from Body of Evidence
• An audio commentary on Evita

Without further ado, here’s never-before-released B-roll footage from the making of “Rain.”

Yawn.

This is all kinds of fun.

You’d have to be a fanatical fan to sit through this. Madonna’s been teasing rehearsal footage of the Rebel Heart tour over the last couple of days. Maybe it’s to drum up sales, given that the tour is not sold out. But what people really want to know before they commit is the setlist. Based on the songs she’s teased on instagram, it will be half old songs, half new songs from Rebel Heart, plus two covers. This doesn’t excite me, as eight of the 11 Rebel Heart songs she intends to perform are in my opinion her worst ever, including Holy Water, Bitch I’m Madonna and Iconic. I’m done putting money in her pocket.

Who is responsible . . . the oh so desperate Madonna of course. Wonder how long it will take before Queerty deletes this post. Their mods are very sensitive when it comes to their queen.

Loving it!

@Spike:Oh spike, I think your one who’s desperate.

Just in time to generate “publicity” for her tour.
Love 80’s and 90’s Mo, but her endless drive and ambition baffle and exhaust me. smell the roses biatch and chill. Maybe she should have a chat with Paul McCartney and Stevie Nicks and get some elder icon mentoring.

Meh. Love ma but i would have been happier if it was Michael Jacobson as the subject.

This is divine. Her Rain music video is one of her best and my favorite.

@Uppity: Well, aren’t you…..Uppity? Although I agree about “Holy Water”, “Bitch I’m Madonna” & “Iconic” are pure fun, and “Rebel Heart” is a huge leap up from “Hard Candy” and is better than “MDNA”, which wasn’t bad. Yes, she plays self-indulgent setlists at her shows, but who can you name that puts on shows as theatrical or beautiful as hers?

Surely it’s not a ‘leak’ unless it’s 1992?
Stop calling it a ‘leak’!

@Sansacro: Stevie Nicks….? Who’s currently on a 120 date world tour with Fleetwood Mac? And the same Stevie Nicks who also hit the road with the band between 2013-14 on a 69 date world tour? That’s not exactly kicking and watching the flowers grow in the garden, is it? For the record, Madonna’s tour is shorter than both of Fleetwood Mac’s outings, so are you going to criticise the 67 year old Stevie for not taking things easy enough?
