With the religious right accusing the gay community of singling them out (they weren’t kidding about that whole martyr complex thing, were they?), we thought it’d be fun to dust off the Pet Shop Boys classic, “It’s a Sin”.
The video, directed by the late Derek Jarman, is filled with all sorts of subtext about Neil Tennant’s Catholic school upbringing. By “subtext” we mean “muscle boys in underwear erotically dancing in unison while a whirling dervish nun looks on”. We gays are a subtle people.

I love PSB !
Now someone will comment that they are old, haggard and should hang it up.
Someone please, I dare you!
Tim
How about a Pet Shop Boys month? One beautiful cut after another for a whole bloody month, dammit!

This isn’t the original video I don’t believe. The original is far campier and actually features the band. This is what I remember as the original: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y7I5UaB7mx4
Still, nothing wrong with boys in underwear and any Pet Shop Boys song…they’re still putting out amazing work.

Yay Pet Shop Boys!!

Holy hell–Pet Shop Boys!
I take back every nasty thing I wrote about you on the bathroom walls, Japhy.

This is not Derek Jarman’s video, you nitwit.

Art Forum is a great organization, but someone has made a mistake. I know people who worked with Jarman on the video, and the one posted in Art Forum is not that video.

I believe this was one of several mini-movies Jarman produced for the PSB 1989 concert tour, to be played on screens behind the actual stage show. While the video we all saw featuring Neil as prisoner and Chris as his jailer was the commercial video. The Boys talk about the films in the book, “Literally”.
