Mother Monster’s former assistant might be calling her a slave-driving deadbeat, but teen volunteer organization DoSomething.org has named her America’s most charitable celebrity for the second year in a row.
The honor focuses more on actions and public visibility, rather than behind-the-scenes donations, so the group particularly liked Gaga’s visit to the White House to discuss anti-bullying legislation. (We’re not sure if Gaga shedding some tears for us gays in Vanity Fair factored into their decision.)
DoSomething.org also hailed Gaga’s yet-to-launch Born This Way Foundation and her support for AIDS/HIV research. (All of the proceeds from her Viva Glam Gaga lipstick and gloss, for example, go to the MAC AIDS Fund.)
Lesbian lookalike Justin Bieber took second place for launching the Believe Charity Drive, which benefits multiple causes including music education and children’s cancer.
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
Other celebs in the top 20 included Ellen DeGeneres, at No. 7 for her AIDS work, and Daniel Radcliffe, at No. 17 for his commitment to the Trevor Project.

Red Meat
Madonna’s cunt club in 3, 2, 1…
Sean
@Red Meat: What does Madonna have to do with this? Gaga has done a lot and should be commended but Madge has been an ally and friend to the gay community from the beginning when it could have been career suicide.
Bryan
@Red Meat: Immature and flame baiting, but I had to LOL.
@Sean: Nothing, and while his comment was unnecessary, even this article ends up getting 10+ comments, you can be sure one of those will be from a bitter Madonna fan reminding us how she invented everything in female pop as we know it.
LandStander
@Bryan: And those “bitter Madonna fans” would be amiss without remembering those before her who were much more important. Like say Kassia, the composer of the Byzantine Chant in the year 810… 😮

Thank you GaGa! No matter what negative things people say about you, you are the most inspiring & helpful artist out there right now.
