Mother Monster Tops Volunteer Group’s List Of Charitable Celebrities

lady-gaga-concertMother Monster’s former assistant might be calling her a slave-driving deadbeat, but teen volunteer organization DoSomething.org has named her America’s most charitable celebrity for the second year in a row.

The honor focuses more on actions and public visibility, rather than behind-the-scenes donations, so the group particularly liked Gaga’s visit to the White House to discuss anti-bullying legislation. (We’re not sure if Gaga shedding some tears for us gays in Vanity Fair factored into their decision.)

DoSomething.org also hailed Gaga’s yet-to-launch Born This Way Foundation and her support for AIDS/HIV research. (All of the proceeds from her Viva Glam Gaga lipstick and gloss, for example, go to the MAC AIDS Fund.)

Lesbian lookalike Justin Bieber took second place for launching the Believe Charity Drive, which benefits multiple causes including music education and children’s cancer.

Other celebs in the top 20 included Ellen DeGeneres, at No. 7 for her AIDS work, and Daniel Radcliffe, at No. 17 for his commitment to the Trevor Project.
