Filmmaker Darren Aronofsky is the master behind films like Black Swan and Requiem for a Dream, two viscerally uncomfortable movies to watch. Now the trailer for his latest project has been released, and by the looks of it he’s embracing the creeps factor even stronger.
First of all, it’s called Mother! That’s creepy all on its own. Why is there an exclamation point? Why is it screaming?!
The cast is of the sort that only a top-shelf director can pull together — Jennifer Lawrence, Javier Bardem, Ed Harris, Michelle Pfeiffer and interestingly, Kristen Wiig.
In the era of gross slasher films, it looks like a deeply unnerving psychological thriller more in line with The Shining than The Omen.
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
And we are so on board.

And this movie involves the LGBT community exactly in what way?
Oh, never mind, Queerty sucking up to Paramount.

Paramount rarely makes GLBT -friendly movies. When was the last time? I’m over Hollywood and the big studios.

This may come as a shock, but not all gay men need gay, gay gay every minute of the day. I love a good thriller and will see just about anything Darren Aronofsky does.
Jack Meoff
They may need gay gay gay every minute but that is what we come here for. If we want to look at reviews of not gay movies we go to non gay specific websites to look at them.

48 year old Javier Bardem as a love interest for Jennifer Lawrence? Sure, why not.

Thank you, I thought the same thing. Typical Hollywood straight male creepiness, pairing a 40-60 something man with a 20-something woman. Talking about living out straight fantasies onscreen.
The movie does look scary, though, and I’ve been a fan of Aronofsky’s since *Pi,* so I’ll probably see it. Javier Bardem’s scariest role of all, though, was as Anton Chigurh in *No Country for Old Men.* That murderous psychopath with the bolt pistol he played is the stuff of nightmares.

YES! This was also my first thought as I watched the trailer – ‘Why is her husband 20 years older than her?’ – its such a trope that women in their 40s cant be the female lead.
Bardem is only 11 years younger than Michelle Pfeiffer, and 21 years older than Lawrence :/

Apparently, the age difference will be key to the story.

I thought the same thing!! Though my boyfriend is 17 years older than me so I guess I can’t talk…

Looks so Good. I can’t wait to watch on DVD. I bet I do not have long to wait. Looks like the type of movie that you need Cliff notes to follow all the plot lines. Let me guess , Bardem is “Mother” to all the creepy people who return to the house of horror. Rather watch “Dream Girl’s” Sorry I’m a Big Gay.

Looks like they built that house on top of Mr.Pickles underground lair
