The world’s absolutely a buzzin’ over news that Hillary Clinton confirmed that she would agree to be Barack Obama‘s vice-president. “Hillary Rodham Clinton told colleagues Tuesday she would consider joining Barack Obama as his running mate, and advisers said she was withholding a formal departure from the race partly to use her remaining leverage to press for a spot on the ticket.” So, why would the former First Lady – who just yesterday vowed to fight on – so willingly take the number two slot? Is she trying to force Obama to take her? Is she telling other party leaders that they should push for this? Last gasp? [AP]

The only way I’ll vote for Obama is if she’s on the ticket. If not, my vote goes to McCain.
24play
I’ll make sure Barack takes your sentiments into consideration as he ponders his choice, Bob.
24play
And BTW, Dr. Kübler-Ross called, and she left this message for you:
Denial
Anger
BARGAINING
Depression
Acceptance
So you’ve only got two more steps of grief to go. Congratulations!
fredo777
lmao
I’d like to see this, actually. It’d be nice if there weren’t so much mud-slinging, though.
Sami
Now that she has publicly demanded to be on the ticket, does he have a choice? I hate her. Grrr!!
Michael Duquette
What is this websites horrible hatred towards Hillary and complete ignorant bias towards Obama all about? I am beyond sick and tired of it. Anyway, the only way Ill consider voting for Obama is if Hillary is his VP, but even then I may still vote for McCain
Bob
Oh, 24Play. You’re so freakin’ witty! How could I be just like you? Oh, I know — I could mindlessly worship an empty suit that has a couple of nice catch phrases but cries racism whenever you try to press him to be more specific about ANYTHING. And you’re just plain ignorant if you don’t think there are many, many, many of us out here who just won’t support your beloved Saint Obama because we think he sucks as a candidate. Deal with it, dear.
ChristopherM
Well Bob, if you get your way with McSame, I hope no one you love needs an abortion any time soon because the first Supreme Court justice McSame appoints and that right is gone. You can also write off recognition of our rights through the federal courts for the next 20 years if he gets to replace a justice.
I know you are hurting at this point. It sucks to lose…my original choice was Bill Richardson. And sometimes a protest vote can change a party and ultimately be very effective for change. But voting for McSame at this point in time when people are dying every day in the middle east and when the Court hangs in the balance by a single vote on many issues upon which our argument for our rights hinges. A protest vote cast for McCain is against every interest you have.
Bob
Yeah, I know McCain will be horrible for the country. Especially for gays. But I’m sick of voting for candidates that suck. Maybe — just maybe — when Obama loses, the Democratic Party will take a long look at its ridiculous love fest and hero worship of Obama during the past year and perhaps tart to nominate candidates who can win. If it takes a McCain presidency to drive that point home, then that’s what it takes. But I have cast my last vote for a candidate that I think is fundamentally flawed and weak, as I did in the past with Dukakis and Kerry. At least Gore was viable. Obama is not.
24play
I think the only question, Bob, is how you’re going to justify not voting for Obama’s reelection in 2012. But I have no doubt you’ll come up with something.
GayBobVT
I’d have no problem supporting Hillary if she had dumped Bill and his baggage as they left the White House. I don’t care to listen for the next five months about how bad Bill is and all the evil he’s done. The Republicans would LOVE to sing that song again. And it would work. Let’s move on.
Bob
24Play, there’s no way Obama is going to win. Too many people won’t vote for him because he’s black. Too many others (like me) think he sucks as a candidate. Too many think (right or wrong) that he threw Hillary Clinton under the bus. He can’t connect with Latinos or rural voters or older voters, and seems to have done almost nothing to try to do so. I’ll go on the record predicting McCain 324 electoral votes, Obama 214 (losing Ohio and Pennsylvania).
Been Waitin All Day for This Moment
Ok, I’ve been waiting all day to let the bitter ones know how I feel. (1) after all that rantin about Obama hahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahaha!
(2) I would love to see Hillary as VP. Can you imagine the back peddlin we are in for by her and her supporters? And yes, if the ticket loses then I guess all that whining about Hillary’s superiority would be just a load of shit. Imagine what churchill-y’s game plan would be. First I hate Obama, now I gotta vote for him to support Hillary as VP or be seen as the Republican coward we all know he is. I wonder what bitter hatred words must taste like. Guess all those Obama haters are about to find out. So please Obama, put Hillary on the ticket so I can see the dance routine (haters back peddlin while eating their own words). Please give me the satisfaction!
Bob
Why would we be “back peddlin while eating our own words”? If Obama is the candidate and Hillary is the veep, I’ll vote for them because I like her, not because I like him. I think he sucks, and will continue to think he sucks. But he gets my vote because she’s on the ticket. How is that eating my words exactly?
proudtobedad
Putting Hillary on the ticket would go against everything Obama stands for. She’s been negative, racist, and a liar, doing everything she could to steal the election from him. As much as I used to admire Hillary and Bill, their behavior in this campaign has erased all the love.
Given that, if Obama offered her the spot, as much as I’ve come to admire Obama, I’d really question his judgement. Here’s to CHANGE!!!
Bob
Hillary’s been negative, racist, and a liar? Sounds like you’re describing Obama’s self-proclaimed spiritual guide to me.
Been Waitin All Day for This Moment
You can’t be that stupid. Ok maybe you can. Let me spell it out. A V O T E F O R H I L L A R Y W O U L D B E A V O T E F O R O B A M A!
Got it? Probably not. Ok, if Obama is the president then he would trump the VP so whatever you dislike about him you would still have to deal with. Even with Hillary as VP. I have suspected all along the the Obama bashers here (and maybe some of the Hillary bashers too) are just covert republicans who can’t win otherwise. Now if Hillary is VP — OMG — whatcha gonna do?
Mark
the vp slot has never meant anything. It wouldn’t matter if HRC were in that slot or not, and I seriously doubt the obama supporters would deal with it (racist memes, and all, you know). Bob is, I think, talking about the empty, nothingness that has been Obama’s campaign. Krugman of the NYT was right about his health plan, virtually every thing else he said was cadged off HRC’s campaign opening documents. It doesn’t make us “bitter”, it means that we’ve reached a different conclusion. The problems in the D party now aren’t being constructed by him or me, it’s coming off smug righteousness of posts like these. It makes your candidate even less attractive that he already is.
CHURCHILL-Y
Wave the pan-african/homohating/racist flag “Been Waitin All Day for This Moment” aka MR C.
Been Waitin All Day for This Moment
You forgot the fact that, after 8 years of destructive politics under the republicans we have two candidates that, yes, offer much of the same plan (which is good because it means those plans are good for the nation and reflect the fact that the candidates are both in the same party, hence similar plans). The empty, nothingness is in your head since you missed the point that what differs between Obama and HRC is he appeals to reconciliation and bringing people together, even across party lines (as opposed to a candidate herself stating she is appealing to working class white voters at the expense of other voters including college educated whites. This is an important difference for our country right now. We did not get reconciliation and healing after 9-11 and it has hurt us as a nation. We are viciously divided right now (as your blogging shows). All other things being the same or similar, this difference matters.
Mark
I don’t think anything I’ve said is vicious. I believe it’s my conviction based upon my reading of the facts.
fredo777
This is the time to get focused, not to gloat + brag, “anonymous poster”. That kind of approach is divisive.
Hmmm…
Alacer
“as your blogging shows”
oh yes and you’ve been more than civil.
I’m tired of being ridiculed for casting my support the way I see fit by my principles. You’re vote is yours and mine is mine. I support Hillary ’till she drops out. When she does, I’ll probably support Barack…if he lives up to my standards in the general campaign.
Alacer
p.s. – in my book, he’s not doin’ so hot right now.
V
I can’t believe people who say they’ll vote for McCain if Hilary is not the VC. He is anti-abortion, anti-gay, pro-war, a moron and so are his voters…
I prefer Hilary to Obama, and I can’t stand his uber-spiritual, successful Christian attitude nor can I stand his his wife, but I’ll simply vote for whichever Democrat wins.
Mr C
I still do not see where Hillary was this QUEEN to Gay rights or anything else. And if she was. Why are we still struggling for equality?
The real truth is like Senior citizens. The tend to stick with what they know as rather to go with the “THE UNKNOWN” and this is what we’re experiencing now. With Obama it’s the unknown. I still think race has a lot to do with a lot of people’s feelings “plain and simple” like I said in a previous post it is always asked “Was RACE a factor in your decision”? And it is always a high percentage number that says YES.
Bill Clinton became president with NO FEDERAL EXPERIENCE. Only state as being a former Gov. The people wanted “CHANGEâ€
George W Bush the same he surrounded himself with people of the old from his father’s camp. But no one seems to think that this was an issue. Until now.
Now all you here he has no experience and an empty suit. And then you hear
Obama has a problem with Working class white voters
Obama has a problem with Latinos voters
Obama has a problem with the Jewish vote
Obama has a problem with the Gay Vote.
Obama has a problem with Catholic voters
No, Obama doesn’t have a problem with anyone.
THEY DO! And the real question is why?
And as for Michelle, because she said “For the first time in my life I’m proud of my countryâ€
OK lets put it like this.
Hillary Diane Rodham-WHITE
Born to an middle class (Republican)family. Family was able to send her to college. Became a successful lawyer married William Jefferson Clinton who became Gov of Arknasas, Then President of the United States.
Cindy McCain WHITE
born a millionaire beer distributor and married John McCain and has the chance to be first lady who said in response to Michelle Obama “Well I was always proud of my country†And her ass should be being born to “privilege†and earns over 200 million a year.
Michelle Obama, BLACK
Born in Chicago to a working class family. Who struggled and applied herself to get an education that the other two could get easily from family. She got a scholarship and had to deal with the fact of being black in such a world where not many of them were. I’m sure had her share a racism to deal with. So to see her husband be able to break barriers where people of all races came to like him and support him. That’s why she felt proud. But unless you are Black you will never understand you only get upset about it because you feel it’s a disrespect to America and many of us have different views of what we consider America. Too bad America doesn’t like us gays.
Once again if you think being gay is a struggle then try being black proud and gay. You will see a whole different world than what you see now.
Bottom line support the ticket or go nuclear for McCain and seek destruction at your own risk!
Put aside your biases and THINK ABOUT IT!
OBAMA/CLINTON 08′
Steve G
At the beginning of the primary, I would have gladly voted for Clinton, had she become the nominee- in fact I was impressed by the entire spread of candidates on the Dems’ side. But I’ve been extremely disappointed in Clinton’s composure as it became clear that she would not become the nominee.
I would have a truly difficult time voting for her in any race now. If she were on the same ticket as Obama, I would grin and bear it, but I really hope she does not become the VP nominee. There’s not enough room for her ego.
Bob
Been Waitin writes of those who don’t agree with his worship of Saint Obama: “the empty, nothingness is in your head …” And he also calls us “stupid.” And then has the gall to write: “We are viciously divided right now (as your blogging shows).” Hilarious! Hello pot? This is Been Waitin. You’re Black!
Wondermann
Goodness, y’all. It’s done and we should support Obama. He has a shot and we should give to him. Whatever hang-ups you have about him, remember one thing, it’s your hang-up. Think about the big picture, it’s not about you, it’s about our country.
Peter Pan
Obama would be a complete fool selecting Hilary as his VP! In fact he might as well commit suicide right now. The way I know US politics a president Obama with Hilary as VP would get assassinated and Hilary would become president!
Always remember those self-chosen ones behind the smokescreen. They are the ones that control the puppets!
I want to see Hilary facing justice in the Peter Paul trial in November!
KB
I don’t know if the next 5 months is enough time for me to understand HOW a Hillary supporter will not vote for Obama, when their policy positions are so similar compared to McCain.
Why vote for the complete opposite of what you want (besides the candidate)? If the individual candidate is that much more important than what they stand for, then write in Hillary’s name for God’s sake, but don’t vote for McCain!!!
Qjersey
The only differences between Obama and Clinton are personality and minor policy issues.
The Dems now have their “Reagan” whose policies SUCKED and SCREWED us, but boy did people just love him and still do.
Politics has become all about Personality, remember American voted for the guy like to have a beer with in 2000 and 2004.
CitizenGeek
I think the Obama/Clinton ticket would be, by far, the best way to go. Barack Obama did not win the nominee by a landslide or anything even close and he obviously has a problem with certain white voters. Plus, if Hillary in on board, the gays and the women will really push everything into his campaign.
So, I am absolutely in favour of Hillary Clinton being VP!
emb
Hillary is convincing people, as she is apparently convincing herself, that she somehow has strength in swing states and red states and with white ethnic voters, and this now qualifies her to be VP and “save the ticket” from defeat.
Bullshit on that one.
Hillary won the DEMOCRATIC PRIMARY VOTERS in some swing states. She won the DEMOCRATIC PRIMARY VOTERS in some red states. In the red states, that may be a fraction of a percent of general election voters. McCain didn’t win all the repub primary states: does that mean he can’t win the state in the general? As for “new voters”, most of the new young and black voters registered out of enthusiasm for Obama; Hillary’s base — middle aged liberal white women — were already registered Dems. And her continued “popular vote” argument only works if one applies her Special Math that discounts Obama votes. Her argument from electability is nonsense.
She would be a disaster as VP: she won’t concede her fucking loss, forgodsake, how’s she going to accept Airforce TWO? And her husband loose in the government and the world? I’d prefer a president who didn’t have to spend half his time managing his veep and the veep’s spouse, putting out minor fires started by a former president who’s demonstrate no political or personal self-control, and correcting the pronouncements of a veep who thinks she won the election.
Clinton has spent the last month splitting the party, encouraging divisiveness, casting herself as Gore in 2000, and even at the end of the last primary refuses to gracefully acknowledge the reality, instead falling back on the “thinking about what to do next” crap.
Those who say “Hillary or Hillary-as-VP or I go to McCain” are thoughtlessly and selfishly willing to put the nation through for more years of conservative hell because they didn’t get what they wanted: they are children threatening to take their toys and go home–but worse, they are children who are willing to subject the entire nation to conservative justices, environmental havoc, international disdain, and needless death and suffering at home and abroad in the name of some “lesson” they feel the need to teach.
Grow up, Hillary supporters, even if your candidate refuses to. There are bigger issues here than the individual nominee, just like there are bigger issues here than gay ones. If Hillary were the nom, I’d vote for her. Hell, I never got the chance to vote for Richardson. This primary process is about the party selecting a candidate, which it’s done; now the game is about defeating McCain.
todd
A gracious person would wait to be offered the job. Instead, she acts like a beast who strong arms him into giving it to her, probably so as to lessen his chances to win. I dont’ trust these shady Clintons. He should make her VP and then ship her off to the Supreme Court the minute there is a vacancy. Good riddance Hill-billy!!!
Bob
The Hillary hate continues. Good thing I hate your Sainted Barack Obama as much as you hate her. Can’t wait for him to freakin’ lose in November so I can laugh and laugh and laugh at all the SHOCKED Obamatons!
fredo777
Bob, come now. Nobody thinks Obie is completely w/o fault, but he’s a damn sight better of a choice than Mac. Also, Hills wasn’t exactly a girl scout.
KB
Bob, time to grow up. Why attack the Obama supporters just because they believe he is the best candidate?
Criticize him if you will, but do you think you are going to convince anyone of your arguments when you use words like “ignorant” (post #7), and “ridiculous” (post #9) to describe them?
People are passionate about their candidates. Because the popular vote was fairly even (less than 1% tipped either way depending on how you calculate it), there are just as many folks who could consider people like you worshipping “Saint Hillary.” I don’t see anyone saying that here — so what do you comments accomplish?
I ask again of those Hillary supporters who don’t like McCain but will not vote for Obama: Why vote for McCain when you can WRITE IN Hillary’s name and vote for the person you want???
emb
Bob, you really think there’s going to be much to “laugh and laugh and laugh” about in a McCain administration? You really think that’d be so much better than an Obama presidency? You’re really so blindly insistent on having your own way that you’re willing to celebrate four more years of Bush if you can’t get what you want? (Oh wait, that’s Hillary’s modus operandi too!)
