All good things eventually come to an end and so goes the reign of Patrick Smith, the handsome gentleman who’s held the title of Mr. Los Angeles Leather for the past year. Smith made such a strong impression that he eventually went on to be crowned named International Mr. Leather 2015.
While taking the stage last weekend to speak before relinquishing his local title to Jeffrey Erdman, Smith shared memories of growing up in chilly Winnipeg, Canada and, despite having a great job and supportive family, deciding to make his dream of living in sunny Southern California a reality five years ago. Smith felt free to further explore himself in Los Angeles where he soon met his partner.
He reveals that competing for the international title was nerve-wracking but the support of the L.A. leather community, which including posting photos with him on Facebook, helped him feel the solidarity and gave him the courage to take the stage in Chicago and win the contest.
During the past year, Smith notes that he traveled to the Supreme Court for the historic ruling on marriage equality and traveled to antigay countries like Egypt, Uganda and Ukraine, then returned to L.A. to raise funds and awareness for LGBT people there. So, long story short, he’s one of the good guys.
Watch his inspiring speech below.
My Mr. Los Angeles Leather step down speech. “Representing this title for you has been among the greatest honors of my life.”Thank you, LA!

No thanks IML and leather contests have been a total joke since they started decades ago and continue to be one.

So, let me see if I understand this. Despite my collecting comics since high school, you get the comic nerd cred because you work for Marvel. And now you’re moving in on the Daddy thing too, even though Im more than 10 years older than you?!?
Leave me something, bitch!
Patrick Smith
Mine mine mine! BTW, what’s Bryan’s phone number? ð???
Bryan Patrick

Also, congrats on a great year and all that.

Leather culture should have Mad Max truck races and cage fighting, not sash bashes.

(Nothing against this Smith guy, though. Good for him if he really did some good stuff).

I’ll call you Daddy any day Sir!
Brian
He has a nice voice, doesn’t he? I was expecting a lisp but he sounded truly masculine.
The face is a dime-a-dozen but that shouldn’t stop him from whispering sweet nothings into my limp, languid ear.
billybob2003
@Brian: “I was expecting a lisp” Why, are you straight?
Brian
@billybob2003: Because most of the leather guys I’ve spoken to have a girly nasal lisp.

A Great “Daddy”!!!

@Brian: Remember the winner of that contest in …2010, I think it was?? The M-to-F trans in the wheelchair ? That was when the IML show officially jumped the shark.
notevenwrong
Very sexy, but a “daddy”? He looks barely thirty.
