Someone recently described New York gay rapper Le1f to us as “the divine lovechild of Nicki Minaj and Zebra Katz,” and the video for “Soda,” above, pretty much confirms it. The track pairs Le1f with producer Boody, giving an air of sexy menace to the rapper’s banjee-queen fierceness! It’s a crazy sugar rush of lo-fi hip-hop and over-the-top technicolor personality. Taste that rainbow!

it’s not the minimalist barely-there-at-all-ness that i object to, it’s diverting enough; but it’s your boy there, he adds fuck all to the proceedings. that goes as much for his visuals, dancing, and general presence, as it does to his phoned-in vocal performance.
