The mother of a gay man missing since last October accuses the Australian government of covering up her Vienna-based son’s disappearance: “[Kathy Gilleran] as reached out to media outlets and PFLAG to tell of meeting “constant stonewalling, rudeness and even outright lies.” [POQ]

I believe it’s the Austrian government, actually.

Yeah my thoughts also that’s pretty sloppy.

Queerty are dumb beyond belief. One is in Europe and the other is in the Pacific Ocean. Gotta stop doing the ‘T’ while watching those Olympics. Are you going to cross it out and insert “Austria” or I will forward the link to all the Australian Gay presses for an international incident?
Mark Adnum
It’s a common typo – in Vienna they sell “No Kangaroos In Austria” in all the tourist areas and as an Australian currently based in Austria myself, I often mis-type one for the other as well.
As for the Australian gay presses, well, AustrALia may be a relatively small and politically-benign nation, but they have enough to report on without picking up on this and turning it into an “international incident”.
And incidentally, the eastern coastline of Australia meets the Pacific Ocean, but the Indian Ocean washes up on Australia’s west coast, while the Timor Sea is located to the north and the Great Southern Ocean, the south. It’s more correct to say that Australia is located in the Asia-Pacific region. Actually, not even an island like Fiji is “in the Pacific Ocean” and it would be in serious trouble if it was. It’s LOCATED or SITUATED in the Pacific Ocean, not actually in the ocean itself, like a fish or a turtle.

Then what does the editor at Queerty do to earn his keep? ;P
Mark Adnum
Probably spend his days wading through complaint emails from pedantic people complaining passionately about typos.
Kevin
Get past the typos. Imagine the pain and grief the family and friends must be experiencing. The Austrian police don’t give a damn about a missing gay man, or obviously his family.
What can we do to help? Why can’t the government do something?
