Nation Gay And Lesbian Task Force, HRC Offices In DC Evacuated After Bomb Threat

The Washington, DC, offices of HRC and other LGBT-rights organizations were briefly evacuated around noon today after a bomb threat was called in to police.

According to Metro Weekly, authorities in the nation’s capital were notified by the Los Angeles Police Department, which had received a nonspecific threat against a national gay-organization. (LGBT/POV reports the  threat was made to a 911 dispatcher from a undisclosed payphone.)

The headquarters of  the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, the National Black Justice Coalition, the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce, the Metropolitan Police Department’s Gay and Lesbian Liaison Unit and the Gay, Lesbian & Straight Education Network (GLSEN) were also cleared out.

A post on The National Organization for Marriage website denounced the bomb scare, saying “America should not be a place where people are afraid to voice their views on marriage, whether pro or con.”

Right, you guys are victims when someone disagrees with you. We get bomb threats. Notice the dichotomy there?
