NBA star Reggie Bullock honors his murdered trans sister Mia: “She taught me to be myself”

Detroit Piston Reggie Bullock is honoring his murdered sister Mia Henderson with a new video released on Spirit Day.

Bullock became a fierce, courageous and articulate advocate for equality after Mia’s murder in 2014. (The suspect in the case was later acquitted.) In one of the best compliments one can give, Reggie credits Mia with teaching “me how to be (myself).”

In a new video, Bullock announces that he will wear purple on his uniform in his symbolic gesture to end bullying, citing a statistic that more than half of all LGBTQ students feel unsafe at school. He goes on to denounce bullying and invites viewers to wear purple to show their support as well.
