You’re literally butt-ass naked, except you can’t show your genitals. When you go into your trailer, there are six or seven options of things you’re supposed to put around your stuff.
Some of them have drawstrings, some of them have double-stick tape, some of them are much larger — I don’t mind size-wise, but they’re just, like, a giant piece of fabric — and I had no idea what I was supposed to do with any of them.
It’s called the NPH — the Netflix Penis Holder. It’s a kind of [a] rubbery [c*ck] ring that’s attached to a stretchy, flesh-colored package thing that you wrap around all the stuff.— Neil Patrick Harris speaking with HuffPost about preparing for those Uncoupled sex scenes.

For a show about how difficult single life is for a middle-aged gay man in NYC, they’ve certainly put him in bed with a string of hotties. It’s hard to imagine what they see in this self-pitying control freak whose ex must’ve had the patience of Job to wait 16 years before plotting his escape.
I do like the show, though, thanks in large part to his best friends played by Emerson Brooks and Brooks Ashmanskas. What makes these moneyed New York queens bearable is self-deprecating humor, and those two have it in spades.

I certainly like the show, a kind of gay SITC vibe. I’m interested in season 2.

Haven’t seen the show but it sounds like a perpetuation of stereotype gay man have one sexual partner after another with love just a farce.
Thought we’d moved beyond that.

There’s a bit of that, but more so about flailing around after being suddenly single and figuring out how to fit in and what you want.

I love NPH, but found the show to be monotone and whiney. None of the characters are that likeable. I watched all 8 episodes.

What a shock, the right wing troll account that always attacks out of the closet celebs and any TV show or Movies that feature Queer people, doesn’t like the show.
Your trolling, as always, is sad and weak.
LumpyPillows
Hey, cam, glad to see my groupie is on duty. You are as dumb as predictable. Everyone has figured out your predictable trolling. Address the comment or go away.

Lumpy,
So true. He’ll be the last to get it, if ever.

I’ll take the Doctor if he can’t handle him, I never back down from that kind of challenge. lol

I have huge respect for NPH, but this show is not the best fit (so to speak) and in fact, would not necessarily be right for most actors. I find the plot interesting, but the script makes my skin crawl and is embarrassingly icky and superficially stereotypical and shallow. Lots of talent on that screen, but really a throwaway show full of simple-minded tropes and uninspired dialogue.

I loved the show. But I wanted to see dick!

I really liked the show. All of the actors are great in their rolls. I agree that is was a little unbelievable in spots. Alot of people will see this as SITC for gays and blow it off. It is made by the same producers. But honestly we need this show. I can attest to the story as what happened to me (minus all the good looking men) I am truly a normal plain guy. But I did end up being with one man for 14 years. He walked out very fast when I asked him to leave. He had everything packed and ready for me to tell him. He never explained why we ended. So I was left as a 30 something to learn to how to be a gay man all alone. Learning everything all over again. I understand the whole show, except for the ending. So I’m waiting for season 2!

I really enjoyed it!

The problem with Uncoupled is Darren Star bringing a Sex and the City vibe to the proceedings. He’s far more concerned with fashion, class, status, New York real estate and everyone being glamorous and chic. He’s also far more interested in being arch and bitchy than in exploring life as it might actually be experienced by a middle aged gay man finding himself single again. If he’d made even a passing effort to keep it real Uncoupled might have been worth watching, possibly ground-breaking. As it is, the best thing about it is a grand diva turn by Marcia Gay Harden, whose character, fun as she is, really has no place at the centre of the stories. And it’s another sign that Star seems to be far more comfortable writing women “of a certain age” than actually writing gay men. Which rather makes all the (very justified) criticisms that Sex and the City was really about four gay men all the more interesting. Maybe Star needed those four gals as cover because he can’t quite deal with the reality of gay men.

Well stated! I’ve only watched the first few episodes so far, but the perpetuation of ‘”gay archetypes” among a super wealthy, elite group of men is so far removed from real life and anyone that I know….There is a real story to be told about single, middle aged men, but this isn’t it….

I actually like to wear the Netflix Penis Holder on dates here in LA. You never know when you’re being secretly filmed, and the NPH secures a non-viral PG rating on most revenge porn sites.

I liked the series. I thought it was cute and funny. I wasn’t really expecting much else, but then the story began to parallel elements of my real life and it really grabbed my interest. I especially enjoyed Tisha Campbell and the overall dry humor throughout the entire series.
Cam
They had NPH have moments where it seemed like they’d just taken a script from Sex and the City, removed the name “Carrie” from some particular scene where she overthought something and freaked out and put his name in.
Overall I liked it, especially his friends and Tisha Campbell as his co-worker.

I totally agree with Tim44309, this show is another “perpetuation of ‘”gay archetypes” among a super wealthy, elite group of men is so far removed from real life and anyone that I know….There is a real story to be told about single, middle aged men, but this isn’t it….”
