Neil Patrick Harris’ whole family caught COVID

Neil Patrick Harris zoomed over to the TODAY show on Tuesday to promote his new book, but not before he shared what it was like when his whole family came down with COVID-19.

Harris revealed that he, husband David Burtka, and their two children all contracted the virus but have since fully recovered.

“We feel great,” he said. “It happened very early, like late March, early April. We were doing our best before, and I thought I had the flu, and I didn’t want to be paranoid about it. And then I lost my sense of taste and smell, which was a big indicator, so we holed up. It was not pleasant but we got through it and have antibodies and are feeling good. We wanna make sure everyone’s doing their best to slow this down in every way possible for sure.”

While the jury is still out on how long immunity lasts after you’ve recovered from COVID, we’re very happy to hear that Harris and the fam are doing well.

His new book, The Magic Misfits: The Fourth Suit, is the fourth in his young adult series centering around a kid magician. If you’re in the market for a YA magic series without a transphobic author, your search ends here.
