Actor and model Nico Tortorella got themselves a new tattoo… and it runs from their head all the way down to their heel.
Tortorella, 33, posted a series of naked images to Instagram to show off their new, abstract ink work, and to praise the artist behind it. Swipe below to see all the images.

“Ok y’all, we’ve transcended,” Tortorella said in the accompanying caption. “The next level is upon us. This feels right. I somehow found @fcknrx at this necessary moment. Their work is mind-blowing and our conversations yesterday were equally as healing. Thank you for taking on this project. And thank you for reminding me that growth and decay are inevitably one in the same. I am not going to explain what this tattoo means to me. Instead, I am going to leave you with a quote from the artist from a recent interview.”
Tattoo artist FCKNRX is the professional name for Rex Morris, based in New Haven, Connecticut. The quote from Morris that Tortorella shared said: “There’s profound hope in remembering the universe has no interest in you. More simply, in the current state of being constantly bombarded with dogmatic philosophies on how to exist socially and how to construct an identity for yourself, it can become harder and harder to decipher what you actually value.
“It’s dangerous to spend your time sorting through objects or experiences to decide whether or not they represent you. For me personally, it’s important to make time to be in nature and face its blank stare and remember that there were beautiful things before anyone decided that there were.”

FCKNRX also posted it to their own Instagram, and described the work as, “Floor to ceiling geologism.” The black ink work is largely abstract, resembling doodles, geological strata, or smoke, depending on your viewpoint, with a large cross on Tortorella’s calf.

Tortorella identifies as gender-fluid and sexually-fluid. As an actor, they have most recently appeared in The Walking Dead: The World Beyond, and the comedy-drama, Younger. They are married to Bethany C Meyers.

He’s unattractive
Den
Probably several magnitudes more attractive than you.
Do you post anything that is not stupid and judgmental?
Kevan1
I think he is cute. He just needs to pop a few pimples on his a ss and legs and maybe wax the hair on his lower back.
IanHunter
I think he’s cute as a button.
Doug
I think he’s pretty hot!
Phuryous4
That’s a matter of opinion. He might not be attractive to you but I find him just fine. If he doesn’t want to wax his lower back, like someone suggested, that is fine, as well.
dhmonarch89
another once hot guy determined to ruin himself.
Liquid Silver
Yep. That’s hideous. As an artist, I can do better with a brush and my oldest, cheapest paint.
Prax07
I find all tattoos ugly, but that just looks like an ink spill. Ick.
jcool
kind of looks like he fell asleep naked and a couple of four year olds found his pen collection
Openminded
Kinda agree with you guys on this. The ink blots between his shoulder blades look like bad attempts to cover up a previous tat. I could be sold on the lines down the right side of his back and around his ass cheek, but it’s just so much ink in general that it becomes a train wreck to me. One more trip to the ink shop and he’ll be like a Zebra, is that black ink on a white man or white ink on a black man?
IWantAFullBeard
I’m so sorry for him.
skeldare
Stop trying to make this guy happen.

To borrow from another story on here “Ick”

Countries like China and Russia must be bent over in stitches as we hurtle full steam ahead into unbridled decadence and inevitable self-annihilation., all while our institutions – the media, academia, the government, the corporate sector, etc. – cheerfully play along with the madness.
Bromancer7
Settle down, Beavis. While it might be eye-rolling ridiculousness, it’s certainly not going to be the downfall of civilization.
Bosch
Using China and Russia as measurements of healthy society? Gurl.

I’ve said this elsewhere, but I’ll repeat it here again. A good friend of mine is a retired dancer and straight ally who runs a summer dance camp for kids 8 to 18. Just a few days ago he was complaining that this year’s batch of kids is the most challenging he’s ever had to deal with. ONE THIRD of the girls identify as something else than their observable gender. During orientation the camp counselors had to be taking notes of everyone’s gender preferences and pronouns as they can’t afford to offend these kids since their parents pay good money to park them their for a few weeks in the summer while they jet off on vacation. The money my friend makes from the camp finances him for the entire year, so he has no choice but to call the kids whatever made-up pronoun they demand to be called by. One of the counselors has already quit as he refuses to put up with the nonsense. There’s always some hooking up going on with the kids, but not this year as the boys are terrified and confused by all the gender madness. There were always 2 or 3 trans or gender-fluid kids in previous years, but this year the gender madness dropped like a bomb. “It’s complete chaos out here”, he told me, “it’s mostly the girls and they get angry and militant if you don’t call them by their pronouns”. Instead of relaxing and having fun, there’s constant tension as everyone’s on tenterhooks so as not to offend anyone else.
Just a glimpse of what awaits the wider society…
Chrisk
OMG you’re so right. What’s next? Dogs and cats living together. I mean seriously .
man5996853
If your friend makes enough money from a summer camp to finance himself the whole year, perhaps he should STFU and deal what is ultimately a minor inconvenience.
carllonghorn
Seriously? I love it – your “straight ally” has a problem with children who are going through various stages of growth issues. Maybe he shouldn’t be running a camp for kids but do something where everyone is very clearly labeled male and female so he and his buds don’t have to deal with ambiguity and kids who are questioning. I don’t care if half the kids want to be called something else, we have much bigger fish to fry. And if you think Russia and China have something on us, then you need to move there, dude. Try Russia first, and if you live to tell about it, then try China.
GlobeTrotter
@carllonghorn: as usual, shoot the messenger but blissfully ignore the message! As someone who works in mental health, all I can say is, the behavior of celebrities like Nico Tortorella and Demi Lovato fit the clinical definition of delusion to the T. Not only that, but these are very influential individuals with very impressionable followers. I wouldn’t be surprised if this results in an entire generation with serious mental health issues, loss of productivity, etc.
Kevan1
@Globetrotter. I call your bluff. You may work around mental health, but you are not a trained professional. I pray no one sends their kids to you. YOU may permanently mess them up. Your comments show you have no formal training as a mental health professional. Please , please do not voice your ignorance to any children. It is not your place or training, unless you are running a conversion therapy camp. We all know how those things work out.
Den
People from Russia and China still try desperately to gain entry to and citizenship here. Kind of gives lie to your dull comment.
And if you prefer countries that demonize and persecute the unconventional and non conforming….LEAVE. I assure you nobody of substance will miss you.
Jon in Canada
Oh look, a filthy disgusting homocon using Russia and China as metrics by which to judge a society. Well have at it darling, but just know that you vile god bothering ChristoQueers do not impress. Run along now child, adults are having a conversation.

You really do not sound like a mental health professional. They tend to be empathetic and intelligent, And they tend not to tell obvious lies.
Ever see the old New Yorker cartoon where a dog sitting at a computer turns to another dog and says “on the internet nobody knows you’re a dog.”?
Well…on this board we similarly don’t know what you are, but we certainly can smell mendacity when it is so fetid.
GlobeTrotter
Some of you guys have some pretty strange ideas regarding mental health professionals. First of all, practitioners aren’t trained to be “empathetic”, that’s a Hollywod take on the professional. We are trained to apply scientific, therapeutic techniques to alleviate suffering or bring about a positive change in behavior. Empathy does not play a role in the clinical setting, objectivity does. As a matter of fact, empathy can do more harm than good.
Secondly, someone mentioned something about intelligence…what is intelligence BTW? I’m required to speak and write long psycho-social inquiry reports everyday in English and German at the C1 level (academic and up), even though neither of these is my native language and I do not live in an English-speaking country. Talk about intelligence…
I won’t engage every anonymous person on here who purports to be an expert on mental health – it’s a fool’s errand to try to prove yourself to people who have absolutely no bearing on your life whatsoever.
Cam
@GlobeTrotter
Awww, the right wing troll account, like all Republicans, wants America to be more like Russia.
cliche guevara
1. Why is your dancer friend referring to kids they are teaching in the third person rather than their names?
2. If your dancer friend thinks pronouns are hard wait until he encounter verbs. Also, names have far more variety that pronouns. How has he handled that? Really, the guy sounds kinda like a dullard.
3. Any mental health professional that is making a diagnoses of a person they have not worked with and based their diagnosis on a few media interviews is proudly unethical. So you may be a mental health professional but you are a really bad one.
GlobeTrotter
@cliche guevara: Diagnosing someone I’ve never met? That would be news to me. When and where did you witness such an event?
LumpyPillows
Anyone who doesn’t think this new pronoun rage isn’t a complete nightmare and makes a joke of people with real gender challenges has never had to deal with it. It is a joke and it’s making fun of us for attention and power-plays. Ah, I yearn for the simpler days when the weird kids were just goths, or acted out with crazy fashion and makeup choices. This is just unbalanced and I don’t even think it is healthy for the kids.
GlobeTrotter
@LumpyPillows: “This is just unbalanced and I don’t even think it is healthy for the kids.”
It’s not. We’re being demanded to believe something we know to be delusional and untrue, yet you dare not speak out against it for fear of being cancelled or labeled a bigot.
Phuryous4
Russia and China? Those seem like ideal countries for America to emulate. They are known for their progressive politics and human rights.
Derek Geddes
Would not mind seeing his Torta-Rella as well
Donston
No matter how “hot” Nico is or how much skin they show off, it’s hard to overlook all the messy, problematic, insecure, attention starving and (on a few occasions) indirectly anti-gay things they’ve said and done over the years, most of which they’ve never confronted publicly since. As far as the new tats, I don’t really find the design and execution appealing even if viewed strictly from an artistic standpoint. But do you.

That is one unattractive package with those butt pimples and random body hair

Perfection does not exist in anyone. Striving for perfection in any part of our lives is a recipe for failure, since it can never be attained. Dr. John Grohol
I have no problem with how he looks or his body. Being with someone who is aesthetically perfect is boring and would eventually make me more insecure about my own imperfections.
barkomatic
It looks cool and original
Michael
Aye yi yi, it never fails with gay threads in general with people who would never in a million years be able to get someone who looks like that moaning about how gross his tattoos are.
As if.
Ken A.
If he’s happy with the tattoo more power to him but he covered his dick.
phanrepublic
We can’t say “his penis” anymore. It’s “persons with phallic reproductive and urinary appendages.”
Den
I hope you are joking. Because if you are not your right wing dullness is showing.
It’s his penis, we can say “his penis” and nobody outside of the imagination of right wing fools is going to take offense.
Chrisk
Den
Nico doesn’t want to be labeled with him or her pronouns. Prefers they or them.
Hussain-TheCanadian
The tattoo reminds me of a Dark Souls canvas gone wrong; those of you who played Dark Souls 3 will recognize the reference 😉
Donston
I can definitely see that. I don’t think the tats are bad. I just don’t think they’re flattering. But if they like them, that’s all that matters.
My only real issue with Nico are the bevy of comments that have missed the target or have been actively problematic, some being anti-gay comments that did nothing but promote homo insecurities and gay shame rather than promote queer pride. But of course, a lot of that stuff gets swept under the rug because they’re a conventionally good-looking white guy who’s queer identifying.
BigRedEO
I do not understand the obsession with tattoos. One or two small ones, fine – I myself, who thought I would never get a tattoo, got a small one of my niece’s name on my left bicep after she passed away from cancer at the age of 12.
But this trend of people covering their whole body – can’t even enjoy a lot of porn nowadays ? because the guys cover up really great bodies with mostly horrible tattoos.
MISTERJETT
it’s his body so if he likes it, not a problem.
GayEGO
Oh my! ‘Yall cum to see me! :>)
CityguyUSA
At least Nico is legitimate. It’s his body not some manufactured ab package and I for one applaud him for not being afraid of being him unlike the hundreds of others that have to put on fake abs, shoulders, chests, necks and even entire bodies to be seen. They’re so fake it’s hard to know what if anything is real.
All you catty fags should think about how you act and treat others.
Team Nico.
BigJohnSF
OMG you’re going be cancelled – it’s not a “him” it’s a “them”!
Cam
@CityguyUSA
What a shock, somebody defending him uses anti-gay slurs.
SDR94103
LOL
tjack47
It looks like frequencies of sound.
Thad
I don’t like tattoos. But I like Nico Tortorella. We briefly met, at a NYC event they hosted with Jessica Kirson, and Nico was having fun and being pleasant. So I’m inconsistent.
BigJohnSF
I could not care less about them.
Kangol2
And you cared enough to respond. How ironic.
Joshooeerr
Spectacularly ugly tattoos. In another ten years he’s going to look like an accident in a printer’s shop.
missvamp
they are so cute- but their ink- horrible!
nmharleyrider
Horribly unaesthetic tattoo design. I thought the guy had better taste. That tattoo artist should hang up his pen for good
nm4047
Best show it off now, in years to come when the sagging possibly makes those squiggles look like straight lines,. Or maybe blend into his ever increasing spread of varicose veins.
inoroutdoor
Looks to me like he laid on some broken pens? Is that the look he was going for? If I was the tattoo artist, not sure I’d want to be credited with this work.
IvanPH
Attention seeker
and Queerty took his bait.
Kangol2
Nico is neither here nor there but I have to say, I bet Queerty knew, as I did, their tattoos would provoke a slew of page clicks and responses (50+ so far), which is why Queerty posted this article. And to their credit, they weren’t wrong!
LumpyPillows
That tattoo will not age well.
Openminded
Imagine him in emergency surgery with an over zealous surgical intern who thinks he’s supposed to cut along every line.
ondaboat0069
Absolutely ugly. Can’t wait til he’s 70 or so because they’ll sag and he’ll look like an inkwell
james7
Those tattoos? I’ve never been that drunk.
