David Mixner turns up the heat on potential Obama veep Sam Nunn: “Sam Nunn would be a disaster as a running mate and a total anathema to millions of Americans. His presence would totally diminish the power of the Obama campaign notion of change. Nunn on the ticket would show that ‘Politics As Usual’ has supplanted the ‘Change In Politics’ mantra. More importantly for some of us, it would place a man on the ticket who has an execrable record on civil rights – especially LGBT rights.” [HuffPo]
No Nunn.

I’m reminded of when Bill Clinton first took office. He talked a lot about change and having new voices in government. He then went ahead and chose some of the biggest, old-school names in the Democratic party for his cabinet. Warren Christopher was his Sec of State for the goddess’ sake! I suspect there will be some remnants of the old guard when Barak Obama gets into office as well, but I gotta agree that Sam Nunn is not the right choice for VP.

How many LGBT voters would support Obama with Sam as VP?
NUNN!

My pick for Obama’s VP would be Tammy Duckworth.
She would bring women, vets, disabled voters to Obama, and she would be a fresh new political face instead of some same old same old Washington hack.

That’s right we need the black man supported by an old white man.

Sam Nunn is an awful human being. I remember the 90s vividly and his anti-gay tirades and antics were despicable.
John Edwards would be a far better running mate for Obama.

Having lived in GA for most of my life, I can promise you that Sam Nunn is a not a true democrat. If they need a more conservative VP, I’d vote with Edwards. I’m concerned that Nunn does not share the same values on equality in general (not just gay rights) as Obama and that Nunn doesn’t have enough foreign policy experience to boost the ticket.
