Nobody Knows How Mitrice Richardson Died. The FBI Will Try To Find Out

Mitrice Richardson, the Los Angeles-area lesbian who went missing after being released from police custody only to turn up dead in Malibu, will rejoin the living. Briefly. Her body is being exhumed at the request of her family so the FBI can examine her remains, as well as what was left of her clothing and a “hank of hair” found near her body. Why get the feds involved? Because the Lost Hills/Malibu sheriff’s department — which released Mitrice in the middle of the night back in September 2009 without a phone, purse, or a ride — isn’t exactly viewed as an independent, unbiased party in the matter anymore. That, and the cause of death remains undetermined.
