The fate of Marriage Equality bill currently in the New York Senate now rests in the hands of the above swing votes. The anti-gay National Organization for Marriage asked its members to call and influence these senators and we’re asking you to do the same thing. The current vote count has 31 yes votes with two Republican senators saying they’ll vote yes. We need 32. Make it happen!

Greg Ball said no because he claims there isn’t sufficient language in the bill to protect religious cults from discrimination and violating religious beliefs in the process. He says he wasn’t sent to Albany to make laws on social issues. Useless! Classic republican. If he read the bill thoroughly and we all know republicans aren’t too good at that, he’d see it gives cults an opt out.

31 will do because it would be a 31-31 tie with the Lt. Gov casting a tie-breaking vote.

Doesn’t work that way bystander, we still need 32 of the elected legislators to vote for a successful passage of the bill. I wish it were otherwise. Greg Ball’s decision to say no is disingenuous because the updated version of the bill introduced by Gov. Cuomo yesterday clearly states that religious cults and their affiliates (Knights of Columbus as one example) are exempt and not compelled to recognize or accommodate gay married couples in their facilities. He’s a spineless bastard who kow-tows to his bigot based religious constituents. This is not even an religious issue, but a civil matter.

It’s time to show those in office that it’s not their funders they need to worry about and that it’s the general public whose lives they are dealing with! I’m sick of some rich assholes who have nothing better to do except tell elected officials that if ” they vote gay, they won’t pay” for any election fundings. Fuck Religion as a whole! The biggest cause of OPPRESSION is Religion, they use the Bible, God, etc as their lil curtain to hide behind because in reality 78% of the voters voted YES on Marriage Equality. Just pass the vote, think of the revenue generated from Gay Marriages, taxes from gay marriages, etc! NY is hurting thanks to NYC!

@robert in NYC: He’s a military c-nt. Listening to him I really think he’s a closet case. Like the Roman Catholic Archibigot of New York.
