The Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services recently teamed up with three non-profits to recruit gay and lesbian families to foster and adopt children during November, National Adoption Month. If it were up to the National Organization for Marriage the 35,223 L.A. children currently in state care would go without loving parental support—because that’s the Christian thing to do… or something.
But don’t worry, NOM. The adopted children of LGBT parents will still get treated like second class citizens thanks to the anti-LGBT, anti-family social policies you support!

Oh this is wonderful a great way to stick it to hate organizations like NOM also.
The truth of the matter is there are a hell of a lot more gay parents who make better parents then a good amount of straight parents do.Especially considering the evidence of abuse sexual molestation domestic violence etcc that a lot of straight children are subjected to in their households.

@Michael: True, true. Plus, every kid in need of adoptive parents is testimony to the inadequate parenting of two heterosexuals. So if the biological parents won’t step up and take care of their kids, then some of us GLBT’s can do it for them.
I wouldn’t imagine that glbt’s, as a group, are any better or worse than heterosexuals at parenting. But contrary to what Christian Fundamentalists claim, they aren’t any better, and we ain’t any worse.

if you think that EVERY child awaiting adoption is there because the parents sucked at being parents, you know VERY LITTLE about the adoptive and foster parenting stipends and payouts for the state agencies. MANY of those children came from loving caring families> And they were RIPPED AWAY from them due to GREED on the states part. the state gets a HUGE stipend for placing children out of home, gets and even BIGGER stipend for adopting out, and hey, guess what? they get yet even MORE money if they can prove the child is special needs, so, they DRUG them! Pull your head out of your ass and look into the system further before crucifying parents. i don’t give a rats ass if you are gay, bi, straight, aliens, purple or whatnot, if you love your children, holed them close, because the state run foster/adopt agencies get paid big damned money top steal children! want actual proof? i have millions of links showing the payouts compared to what people on welfare get. Welfare isn’t the bane of american society, foster/adopt is! with 7 times more money going to fost/adopt parents than to actual parents parents! http://www.wxyz.com/dpp/news/local_news/investigations/did-a-break-down-in-the-foster-care-system-lead-to-a-child%27s-death%3F#ixzz1boWvvd13

@Dallas David: “Plus, every kid in need of adoptive parents is testimony to the inadequate parenting of two heterosexuals.”
I don’t think that’s a fair thing to assume at ALL. Their parents could’ve died, or could have been in a situation where giving up the child was the more loving and responsible thing to do. If we’re going to argue for a more compassionate state where all children are well-loved, I don’t think we should go about it by saying nasty judgemental things about others.

What a wonderful outreach for those groups to do in the community to get kids a family. All the more power to them.
