New York State Sen. Hiram Monserrate, the Democrat who voted against gay marriage, will receive only three years probation, and no jail time, for slashing his girlfriend’s face with glass. You know, because there’s something called justice. [/sarcasm]

Real justice is in the hands of the people. March on Monserrate’s offices, Dec. 12:

Better to focus on ousting the other 7 Dem senators. If this guy doesn’t get re-elected, NO ONE will ascribe it to his marriage equality vote. And I’d say it’s a pretty long shot that he’d get re-elected anyway.
RomanHans
His girlfriend changed her testimony to say it was an accident. So, what did you expect?
And then there’s Tiger Woods allegedly being beaten up by his wife and nobody being charged. Apparently people are only imprisoned for domestic violence if they’re poor.
Mark from NM
Boy, the straights are really protecting and promoting the sanctity of marriage now, aren’t they? (That’s being sarcastic there is even the most remote sense someone is wondering)

Disgusting

Sounds like somebody “got” to Hiram’s girlfriend.

The verdict in Monseratte’s case is no surprise. After the woman changed her version of the story, it all went downhill. I hope the NY Senate has the “consciousness” to remove him from power for domestic violence.
It was the Senators consciousness that led them to vote against same sex marriage, Is their consciousness in favor of domestic violence?
Do not marry the one you love and enjoy equal rights. But you can beat up the one you “love” and spare the consequences – legal or political.
Robert, NYC
Mark from NM, exactly my sentiments. This is one they can’t blame on gays, all that garbage about allowing same-sex marriage would herald the deterioration of straight marriage. Seems as if the straights are doing a very good job of it themselves and don’t need any help from us, ditto Sanford, Ensign, Edwards, Clinton, Vitter, the late Hyde, Gingrich, Fossella. To date, Max Baucus, the conservative, democratic anti same-sex marriage bastard who is trying to derail the health care reform bill is now shacked up with his girlfriend who at one time he’d tried to get nominated as attorney general in his state. Not a peep from the holier than thou’s about that either. I hate the bastards and their damned hypocrisy and bigotry.
I called Monseratte’s office yesterday telling his lackies that I hope the bastard goes to jail and suffers. If he ever marries the girlfriend, I’d like to see a big demonstration to spoil his day.
Robert, NYC
The 8 bigots who voted against us are also voting against the economy of our state now in a serious financial situation with the hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue generated from weddings and the small businesses that could benefit from them will now be spent in Connecticut and elsewhere where we can marry. Some think its irrelevant, but I don’t.
Robert, NYC
Guys, a word of warning. There’s a right wing psycho talker by the name of Michael Letterman who comes on to this site when marriage equality issues are in the news. He spews a lot of venom at us in regard to the defeat in Maine and more recently New York. I don’t know why Queerty allows these low lives in here. Maybe everybody should write to the editor of this site and demand a ban on all of these haters. It spoils our time and turns a lot of us from posting here. So, be on your guard, don’t let him bait you, ignore him.

HOW IRONIC…

@10 Robert NYC:
Amen. You can spew hatred, spread an ideology with a death toll in the nine digits, spam the shit out of us, and even defend Hitler and/or terrorists and still be allowed to spread your vile bile. What do you have to say to get banned here?
terrwill
The Gays have a legitimate drum to bang against this
lowlife. However the Judge in this case is just as
cupable. This man (?) is an public elected figure. I don’t know
how many of yous actually saw the surveilance video of thie
asshat dragging his girlfriend thru the lobby of the buinding
but it is quite clear she wasn’t enjoying the ride. What
kind of example does this set for kids? Hey if a state senator
can make his girlfrined a punching bag why can’t I??
Robert, NYC
Terrwill, this scum bag’s skank girlfriend lives with him. I didn’t hear a peep out of Ruben Diaz and others who voted against us about that, or the roman cult that Monserrate belongs to. If he ever marries, I hope many in our state will organize a huge demonstration to spoil his day and remind him of his bigotry.
Bill Perdue
Diaz, Monserrate and their Republican friends are typical of the immorality and bankrupt politics of both parties. At best they’re political hustlers like Obama and McCain and at worst political thugs like Monserrate and Palin.
Congress and State legislatures are infested with them, as are the White House and Governors mansions. Virtually all of them cater to the cults who promote hate and violence and the businesses who make big money off paying us lower wages.
We need to be politically independent of both parties and their ‘lesser evil’ shell game and try to develop our own nationwide, activist, internally democratic mass action group to fight against the cults, businesses, and the jackass political hustlers and thug who cater to them.
Robert, NYC
Bill, right on! Diaz is the ringleader of them all. I still can’t understand how a religious minister like him, not to mention Mike Huckabee, also a minister, are allowed to run for political office. To me that spells a direct involvement of religion in politics. About time that was stopped.
Bill Perdue
Robert, AndrewW and other cult cuddlers will have another little tempête de merde, but the truth is I think we should do what other countries have done and criminalize cult interference in civil and political affairs, beginning with marriage.
That would force Diaz to choose between his huge state and cult retirement funds. No more double dipping for bigots like him, Leah Daughtry (who runs the DNC) or Josh Dubois, Obama’s director of bigot (christian) outreach who now oversees the White House scam that bribes pulpit pimps with ‘faith based’ ‘charity’ funds. Both Daughtry and Dubois are ordained pentecostal bigots, and so is Jimmy Swaggart (more about him below).
Keeping ‘religious’ leaders out of government and political life would help end both bigotry and corruption, which always go hand in hand. It would make it easier to extradite, arrest and prosecute accessories to child rape like most bishops and archbishops of the roman cult.
I also think we should criminalize their 24/7/365 barrage of hate speech since it promotes violence, harassment and bigotry. They have no right of free speech when they lie and say we’re sub-human and encourage violent thugs.
Who got killed because Jimmy Swaggart, ordained pentecostal bigot said on the radio that “I’m trying to find the correct name for it…this utter absolute, asinine, idiotic stupidity of men marrying men. I’ve never seen a man in my life I wanted to marry. And I’m gonna be blunt and plain: if one ever looks at me like that, I’m gonna kill him and tell God he died.”
We’ll never know.
Robert, NYC
Bill, I only wish we could do that but religion is so intensely ingrained in the American psyche, its going to be a hard job to take on as much as I would love it. This society has a far higher percentage of believers than any western society, odd when you consider it supposedly has no state religion. I don’t know of any western leaders invoking a deity at the end of an address to their nations as we do here, or offer prayers at the beginning of a congressional session. Come to think of it, what is a religious leader of the christian cult doing leading a prayer at the beginning or end of a session anyway? I just don’t get it. Personally, I find it offensive. In my view, one’s religious beliefs should be left at home where they belong, not in the political arena where they definitely don’t belong. Can you imagine an atheist running for the highest office with the way things are today? I can’t. He or she would never stand a chance. I’m still convinced that we need to start out by going after the cults who promote discrimination, have their tax exempt status removed, ban them from donating to campaigns and prosecute those who covered up the molestation scandal for decades, then go from there.
I only hope our activists get some dirt on Diaz and his gang and expose the bastards for what they are.
Bill Perdue
No. 17 • Robert, NYC – You’re right about the current state of the US. It is pretty backwards when it comes to worshiping sky pixies. How many people think The Exorcist was a documentary. Too many. It’d be hilarious if it weren’t so dangerous.
Some of the ideas that leftists raise pose the question of what we have vs. what we need. That’s describes most of what I raised above. I know you get that but lots of people still don’t so it’s important to raise questions of what we need but can’t get without fundamentally reordering society and turning their triangle of who rules on its head.
Robert, NYC
Bill, in full agreement with that. I just hope we find someone with the balls to start it moving forward.
To digress……expect a defeat in New Jersey if SSM comes up for a vote this thursday. I just heard that there aren’t enough votes secured to pass it, so we’ll get a third defeat on the east coast. Hope I’m wrong but when you hear “the votes aren’t there”, then the writing is on the wall.
To everyone who posts here, beware of extreme anti-equality activist “Michael Letterman” who claims he’s not homophobic because he knows or has friends who are gay, especially lesbians, a frequent so called “married straight???” who’s been attacking us over the New York defeat last week and I’ve no doubt he’ll be gloating when New Jersey fails. He’s absolutely exuberant over the Maine and New York results.
