New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, who the Human Rights Campaign lined up to star in its NY marriage equality videos, and who Richard Socarides keeps defending as a LGBT rights advocate despite Bloomberg’s suing to block same-sex marriage recognition, will join Meg Whitman in California to help campaign for a fellow billionaire who has made no secret of her disdain for letting gays steal the word “marriage.” The move is is fitting: Bloomberg, who spent $110 million of his own cash to be re-elected for a third mayoral term, was just beat by Whitman’s self-funding record of $119 million, and billionaires don’t let billionaire friends campaign alone.
