You endless shilling for Hillary is a turn-off. Barak is still the leading democratic canidate and his committment to the gay community is remarkable. A nod to the fact that many of your readers are not as blindly following Hillary as you clearly are would be welcome.

    March 6, 2008 at 5:03pm
  • tommy

    What commitment is that?

    March 6, 2008 at 5:03pm
  • Preston

John, would that be the endless commitment of publishing ads in gay publications? Ok… so.

I want a good leader who knows what they are doing. They are both gay friendly and are both going to get just as far with gay issues as the other. Clinton has the stronger hand in politics and that’s what we need right now.

It doesn’t matter because they are going to team up when one is chosen anyways.

PRESTON and anyone else who thinks that Clinton has more experience than Obama needs to read a fucking book or any other intellectual literature (blogs do not count), the fact that she has been in the publics’ eye for 16 years doesn’t mean she has been doing anything significant or gaining much experience in that time (saying this as a New Yorker). Obama has spent more time in elected office. Stop not paying attention to politics and then thinking that you know what are you are talking about every 4th year…

Obama is a better candidate in many respects. Though, Hillary is not bad. Not that the primary isn’t already over or anything…

Obama is an awful candidate. Maybe in 8 years, but he’s not ready now. Queerty endlessly shilling for Clinton? John must not be reading the same blog I am. Queerty regularly features banner ads for Obama, posts every positive news item about Obama and rarely posts anything about Clinton, unless it’s negative.

Obama has zero commitment to the gay community. Commitment? Like when he asked the anti-gay McClurkin to stump for him?? I don’t call that commitment. I call that pandering.

    March 6, 2008 at 8:03pm
  • fredo777

That’s ridiculous. So, he had ex-gay (but, from what I’ve heard, not quite ex-gay) McClurkin on his tour. He also had an openly gay minister.

You can’t discount his other inclusive acts because of that isolated incident. How many gay-specific ads did Clinton place? Or speeches did she give against homophobia in the church community?

  • rickroberts

I’d seriously like to hear more about this commitment BO has to the gay community. Was he committed when he threw us under the bus to pander to black church bigots in South Carolina?

I’m sticking with Hill. If BO is our nominee, Nader gets my vote.

If people vote socialist to avoid voting for Barack, they deserve what we’d end up with in the White House. Sucks for the rest of us, of course.

Its great that there are gay issues finally open in presidential elections. That we vote and can make a difference has finally struck a chord in American politics. My only observation is everyone is concerne is that everyone seems to be concentrating on one issue and not the entire platform. Take a look at what is being given away as far as higher taxes, immigration regulation, international policies and education. Please be informed and dont vote for a candidate on one issue albeit an important ONE.

When the Quuerty editor claims that voters for Obama “don’t matter”, I’m pretty sure that qualifies as hateration.
    Whatever.

    March 7, 2008 at 9:03am
  • Jesse

I agree. Why are these bucks useless? Why is queerty slanted towards Hillary Clinton? Clinton doesn’t even support a full repeal of DOMA. Barrack Obama does. Obama speaks in black churches asking for an end to hate and discriminatin of gay people.

Lest we forget that the last Clinton in office gave us got Don’t Ask Don’t Tell and The Defense of Marriage Act. Name a president other than Bill Clinton in the last 100 years who signed legislation that actually took away gay rights? I live in New York. Hillary Clinton is my senator and she only cares about gay people when she is at an HRC dinner or when she thinks our votes might aide her political ambition.

btw, the whole “Obama lied about NAFTA” thing is funny when you look at the fact that Obama and Clinton both contacted Canada to reassure them about NAFTA while both condemning it in the last debate.

“Those voters no longer matter”???? WTF? A. This whole thing is far from over B. Why you gotta hate on Obama supporters? C. Obama still leads in delegates and will probs take Texas back from Hil and D. I think one of the most hurtful things you could say is that people who participate in the Democratic process don’t matter, no matter what the outcome
    Shame on you…

I personally don’t understand the negativity against Hillary, and for the person who said that those who think Hillary has more experience should read a book, i would say that they should read the right books, they should look at the records, they should look back thru the congressional and Presidential archives and should also take into account that Hillary has been a senator longer than Obama. She is more qualified and more experienced. To be honest she is more qualified and experienced than her husband was when he ran. If Obama wins, I haven’t decided who I would vote for but more than likely it won’t be Obama and you’re right those of us who vote against Obama deserve what we get, but so do those of you who ignore experience, hard work, and knowledge to vote for the inexperienced and charismatic Obama.

    March 7, 2008 at 11:03am
  • tramaine

David what you sayd about telling people who participate in the democratic process don’t matter is exactly what the DNC and Obama have told the voters of Florida and Michigan. Also to be fair while Michigan may have not had Obama and Edwards on the ballot, Florida did. I live in Florida and voted here. Clinton won Florida but the DNC and Obama somehow think it’s unfair to have our delegates seated at the convention. Don’t start crying when things don’t go your way.

    March 7, 2008 at 11:03am
  • tramaine

The Clinton campaign has had not contact with Canadian official regarding NAFTA. That’s a ploy to take the attention off of Obama’s campaign. They need to explain themselves. What’s funny Jesse is that now your saying that both campaigns contacted Canada Officials, but Obama and his staff have said they have not? So they did or they didn’t? Which is it?

Secondly, we now have Obama’s foreign advisor calling Hillary a Monster? New Politics? Just because you feel that way, doesn’t mean you should say it. Especially when you are a campaign member. IT could reflect poorly on Obama and his campaign.

    March 7, 2008 at 11:03am
  • David

Tramaine, A. I’m not crying B. Talk to your state party leaders who violated party rules about why your votes weren’t counted C. Both Obama and Clinton have made calls to have MI and FL votes counted D. It’s up to the state party leaders and the DNC to work out how to fairly seat those delegates and E. You can’t seriously think that voting in either of those 2 states was fair to all the candidates Ms Harris…

Obama can unite us nationally as well as globally.
Think what a statement President Obama would be to the rest of the world.
    The hope.
    The renewal.
There are still so many out there that want us to be an example of diversity and hope.
Sorry Hillary, but we need a NEW VOICE.
Hillary has had 35 years to “find” a voice that conveys what she thinks others want to hear.
Good for her, but too late and with too much baggage…
My separatist friends (Left AND Right) all go Gaga over her.
I do not want a country divided, and just can’t see her
    Or Bill
    Do not forget –ever—
Bill “It all depends on what IS is” Clinton
    uniting this country.
Does anyone really want 4 years of Hillary and Bill bashing? I grow weary and ill with all of this.
The only one not working my last nerve is McCain’s mother. We should all be so vibrant, opinionated and loyal to our tribe at that age (93).
