Well, it’s official! The United States is sending its first-ever openly gay male athlete to the Winter Olympics.
Figure skater Adam Rippon, who we’ve been doting on for a while now, was just selected to join Nathan Chen and Vincent Zhou in representing the U.S. at the 2018 Winter Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea, next month.

“I don’t really care what other people think of me,” Rippon says. “I’m able to go out there and I’m really able to be unabashedly myself.”
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
He added, “I want somebody who’s young, who’s struggling, who’s not sure if it’s OK if they are themselves to know that it’s OK.”
While Rippon has made history as being the first openly gay man to qualify, there have been a number of Olympic figure skaters and other athletes who have come out afterwards.

Figure skater Johnny Weir competed in the 2006 and 2010 Games; he came out publicly until 2011. Freeskier Gus Kenworthy competed in the 2014 Winter Olympics; he came out in 2015.
Oh, and speaking of Kenworthy, he’s expected to find out if he made the cut on the U.S. ski team later this month.
We’d say this is cause for celebration. Liiiike, how about another look back at some of Rippon’s hottest Instagram posts?

Key word here of course is “openly”.

2012-23

He’s cute and has got to be less of a drama queen than Johnny Weir, so he should be great representing the USA on the ice.

Does anyone else completely disagree with the decision to send him? Adam COMPLETELY stunk up the joint! He came in 4th and it was a distant 4th. He got in by committee not because he’s this great skater. Every time the pressure is on, he fall’s apart like a scorned lover on a telenovelas.
I’m more disappointed for Ross Miner who has been around forever who had the skate of his life to finally make an Olympic team only to have it ripped away.

There is no sport (so to speak) in the Olympic games regardless of Summer or Winter Olympics. I say this because the athletes at “too” cute for them to have not been selected for their ability to draw an audience. I bet many of you never looked at professional sports that way. I began so suspect this back in the 1980’s when it was clear during their rematch that Tommy Hearns had defeated Sugar Ray Leonard (Leonard’s eye was swollen shut and he had been floored twice during the match) but the match was declared a draw because Leonard could sell out a stadium and still had drawing power. Leonard won their first match but Tommy got his revenge in the second one.
The cuter you are the better your chances of making it to the Olympics. We are remember little Ms. Pepsodent Smile herself (Greg Louganis). The dead giveaway are the swimming and male olympic skating competitions. Not an ugly one to be found anywhere amongst the entire ensemble regardless of country. No ONE swimmer or diver has chest hair? There is NO WAY that could be possible but we are being asked to believe it is.

I just want to know if he ever found his suitcase containing his used dance belts that the airlines lost.
