Social conservatives will shower Sally Kern with praise today, but the anti-gay lawmaker has no friends on The Oklahoman’s editorial team.
Kern’s main focus in the Legislature has been on anti-gay initiatives, such as trying to determine where libraries should place books with homosexual themes. “God’s Word does not change. … Therefore, my opinion also will not change,” she said last week.
Kern will be shown a little love today when the American Family Association holds a rally in her support at the Capitol. Perhaps constituents ought to hold a rally of their own, urging this one-trick pony to put her tiresome personal agenda aside and work to do something constructive.
We have a suggestion, but it’s not fit for print.

God’s word doesn’t change? The NEW TESTAMENT (not the old law, which Christians supposedly don’t have to abide eg the OLD TESTAMENT) – clearly says women are supposed to have their heads covered and not speak in the assembly. Why then isn’t Ms. Kern at home barefoot and pregnant? (well skip the pregnant part, don’t want another innocent to suffer)

Oh I forgot, God’s word doesn’t change, but our understanding does. (which is exactly what a sincere but misguided person told me.) My answer: then how do we ever know the will of God? No answer for that one.

First of all god was created out of the minds of a bunch of politically motivated half-brained men to keep their people in line. Superstition ruled the day, the men saw an opening for power and took it. Why some people still believe in this superstitious nonsense is beyond all reason.
Second of all… no wait, first of all pretty much covers it.

@Jaroslaw:
As you cite Paul, I think it is quite interesting.

“God’s Word does not change. … Therefore, my opinion also will not change,†she said last week.
Well, she may have a point. This passage certainly pertains to her;
“And I find more bitter than death the woman, whose heart is snares and nets, and her hands as bands: whoso pleaseth God shall escape from her; but the sinner shall be taken by her.” Ecclesiastes 7:26

Chris – I went to your link – there are pages to read, most of which I think I know – what specifically are you driving at about me citing Paul? What I thought I was alluding to was intelligent people cannot read the Bible literally although most fundy Churches claim too. And why the Catholic Church can understand all the historicalness and language barriers of the Bible on every subject EXCEPT homosexuality is beyond me.

Why does the homosexual community try to revise, edit, or take scripture out of context? I can understand if one does not like what the Bible says that they might disagree. But, instead of trying to wrestle the Christian community into submission by trying to force them to normalize something that is clearly sinful by Biblical standards; why doesn’t the gay community create its own book of faith that embraces homosexuality and other behaviors?
I would not agree with the veracity of the book, but I would have a great deal more respect for those who would create their own belief system rather than those who are currently sending death threats to Sally. Now there is hate speech!
