Keith Kimmel died before he could challenge Oklahoma Tax Commission in federal court over its 2009 rejection of his “IM GAY” license plate. But now, we know fully why he couldn’t get a license plate about his sexuality: It was too offensive.
For the same reason “SEXYBRD,” “V8BALL,” and “NOFTCHX” were denied to drivers hoping to distract you from the road, “IM GAY” was among the “curse words, sexual connotations, racial and ethnic slurs, and drug or alcohol references” Tax Commission staffers watch out for. What about “BIGUYS” or ‘BEARLVR”?

Someone at DMV has a lot of time on their hands………check out the no-no NY plates:

Some guy in California tried to get custom plates and when he filled out the form, wrote, “no plate” for his alternate choice (in case his first choice was already taken), meaning he didn’t want a custom plate if he couldn’t have his first choice. So, the
DMV sent him a plate that said “NO PLATE”. He thought it was funny so he kept the plates.
Then, he got an incredible number of notices to appear in court for parking violations – it seems that when there was no license plate on a car, an officer would write, “no plate” and the DMV computer matched that string against his custom plate.

Great story; can’t make that shit up. Thanks for brightening my day; too bad at the expense of some innocent guy, but I guess thats a major part of what makes a story funny.
