This week, openly gay figure skater Adam Rippon became the first out athlete to qualify for the U.S. Olympics.
While doing publicity and making the rounds, the 28-year-old athlete told the BBC he wouldn’t feel remotely welcome if he visited the White House.
“I don’t think somebody like me would be welcome there,” he said. “I know what it’s like to go into a room and feel like you’re not wanted.
“I think it’s important that we stand up for what we believe in and we speak out against thinks that we think are wrong and unjust….
If I talked to people the way that President Trump talks to people my mom would kick my ass.”
