Well, that didn’t take very long: one week in to marriage equality in New Jersey, and opposition has already shrunk to its lowest point yet. Mazel tov, Garden State.
And the news gets even better: we’re thrillingly close to winning marriage in three more states before the end of the year. New Mexico is awaiting a ruling from the state Supreme Court; Illinois is slogging through a veto session; and Hawaii legislators are tossing around a marriage bill.
And there’s progress in some more unlikely states: Nevada and Tennessee, where lawsuits are continuing to slog through their long, slow process.
