“Not all of the letters are from women. One card with a cat on the front is from an New York man sporting a bushy, gray, mustache. He enclosed photos of himself behind the wheel of his white, 1992 Nissan convertible.”— The Sun Sentinal reports the disturbing truth that Parkland shooter Nikolas Cruz has been flooded with fan mail following his horrific attack at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School on Feb. 14 that left 17 students and staff dead and 17 more injured. At least one piece of that mail was sent by a creepy-sounding NY area man. The report also mentions other “older men” who’ve tried contacting Cruz. It’s a weird, weird world out there.

All serial killers get this letters and offers of marriage and always have. Why is it particularly “creepy” from an old man?
Kangol
First, I guessed correctly that you were going to be among the first to respond to this thread.
Second, you’re right that the article is ageist and probably homophobic in describing as “weird” the fact that “older men” are writing to this murderous terrorist, but the guy sending photos of himself to this murderer, as if trying to pick him up, is pretty creepy.
Heywood Jablowme
Don’t write him, Bobby. Remember your true love is Shawn Mendes.
crowebobby
They’re all trying to pick him up. I’m not saying the old man isn’t creepy, I saying they’re all creepy. And, HJ, it would never occur to me to send a photo to him . . . OR to Shawn. i’m just a very healthy 81-year-old fa**ot with fantasies; I’m not crazy . . . I’ve been tested (as Sheldon says).

Ageism.
I guess we’re supposed to become either pervs or god-like as we age?
I’ve never subscribed to anything “age”. I hate it.

It is a creepy practice but…
Every single national mass murder gets this treatment. I don’t get it either.
Brian
You think it’s bad here, you should see how they do it in Russia.

^…Brian…explain? Got me curious

Hell, if I thought that I had a shot for a conjugal visits, I would be writing him too.
That boy is sweet like a Cinnabon.
Brian
He looks like Howdy Doody.
ChrisK
Can you be a little less transparent with your trolling? I looked again and the guy is not conventionally handsome in any way.
ChrisK
@Brian. I guess as long as Howdy Doody is under age looking he’ll have tnguy222’s attention.

ChrisK, you really enjoy making personal jabs at the expense of other commenters. Please stop. Future comments like these may be removed. You have been warned.

who amongst us doesn’t like a young, smooth, fertile-looking butt?
I bet his ass is so sweet, it might give me tooth decay.

The Fernandez brothers, who were actually cute, killed their parents for their money. They got tons of marriage offers.
o.codone
It’s the Menendez brothers bro, not Fernandez, not Sanchez, not dirty Sanchez, just Lyle and Eric Menendez. Wow.
Paco
Seems to be sociopaths reaching out to one of their own.

Over time, I’ve learned to draw a distinction between Queerty’s headlines and the actual content of any posting appearing on this site. For example, nothing in the body of this posting even hints that the communications from the New York man is creepy (the headline) any-more or any-less than communications from any women and/or from any non-New-Yorker men might be.

Anyone sending a letter of admiration to a mass murderer is completely insane regardless of any other circumstances.

Sam6969
wow, crowebobby, are you really 81 yo? If I read well, it’s impressive. If you knew early in your life you were gay, it must have been something to live through the gay perspective, since the late 30s…
crowebobby
Sam6969: Ya, I’m 81 alright. I was born in 1937 so I wasn’t actively involved in any gay scene till i was living in Manhattan in 1956. I’d read most of the gay classics, beginning with “Mr. Norris Changes Trains,” which I found on the sun porch of my home in Everett, Massachusetts. To this day, I have no idea where it could have come from. I’d had romantic crushes of boys in school since the perhaps the 4th grade, but they didn’t register as sexual to me. And even when they eventually did, I couldn’t bring myself to do what had always been presented to me as the most disgusting things possible. But I managed to get over that by the time I was 20 and to enter the gay life lock, stock, and barrel as the saying went. Gay life and attitudes (of both gays and straights) have changed so much since then it would take a book the length of Proust’s “Remembrance of Thing Past” to TRY to explain it. Whether it’s gotten better or worse and how much of each is subjective . . . and you have to remember that almost everything is brighter in memory. I just hope you’re enjoying your life.

A little off topic but I dated a girl in college who’s mom was a Professor of Psychology at UF, she would regularly go up to Raiford Prison to chat/interview Ted Bundy. He had many of these weirdos (women) proposing to him, the funny part was Bundy would give dating advice to this girls Mom. She said he was very normal in the conversations, except for the mass murder part.
The Gainesville Killer, Danny Rollins, had a wife pretty quickly after his conviction, however, she had a motive. She was a journalist and got direct contact with him to write a book. Pretty sick way to get a story.
Bradsman
He was just in High School. Every other man is an “older man”
