Sorry I know there is a lot of hate for this guy, but because of him Lance Bass and Neil PAtrick Harris are out of the closet, at a time when we needed people out of the closet. And the Carrie Prejean incident embarrassed the right wing and gave us another brick in tearing down the marriage wall.
Is he kinda douchy, sure, but those things alone give him a pass for that in my book. His biggest sin are those pictures he keeps posting of himself since his weight loss.

It is irrelevant what you need. He wasn’t hypocritical. There were plenty of pictures of NPH and Bass out with their boyfriends in public, even holding hands. The difference was nobody was publishing them.
“Forcing” somebody out of the closet is a ridiculous statement when people are walking around in public holding hands, especially when one of them is on a hit TV show.
As for him supposedly being so cruel to so many. Remember, half of what he did was report celebs being assholes in public. Was it being “Cruel” to Reece Witherspoon to release the tape of her berating and threatening the police officer who pulled them over for drunk driving when they were on the wrong side of the road?

My issue was everybody seems to go WAAAAY over the top talking about how mean he is, and I didn’t remember anything in particular. I remember him being douchey, I just didn’t know what the really really awful stuff was. I think the fact that his Carrie Prejean question got so much play and ended up causing a HUGE amount of embarrassment to bigots when they jumped on her bandwagon as the defender of morality only to have the rug pulled out when it turns out she was sending homemade porn to her boyfriends just cracks me up so much I can’t hate the guy. lol
That being said, would I want to have the guy over for dinner? No.

@Cam: I might be wrong, but it seems you are giving him some serious “props” for outing people. To me, it didn’t appear that he had any noble or high-minded reasons for doing so. It looked like he was taking advantage of the situation by driving hits to his site and self-promoting big-time by calling out the life choices of others.
I’m not a fan of outing people. I firmly believe that everyone is entitled to live their lives in peace as long as they are not consciously with forethought harming others. Anti-gay, closeted elected officials? Have at em. Peaceful people living their lives as it works for them; not a fan of outing them. Up to them, of not, to come out.
Don’t know if he is a douche or not, but I can understand, based on his tactics, why some would feel that way.

No, what I hate is the hypocrisy of the media. i.e. Rosie O’Donnell was showing up to awards shows with her live in girlfriend and yet the media would still interview her and ask her questions about her love of Tom Cruise and the difficulties of being a single mom raising her kids all alone. Or the fact that NPH would walk around holding hands with David Burtka and now outlet would buy or run the shots. So the media was complicit in keeping people in the closet. All Hilton did was run the shots that had been taken. Again, tough to “Out” somebody when they are walking through Manhattan hand in hand with their boyfriend.
