Perez Hilton Would Like To Talk To You About His Depression

Screen Shot 2014-08-22 at 11.29.39 AMIn light of reports that severe depression may have motivated Robin Williams‘ suicide, celebrity gossip ticker Perez Hilton would like to talk about depression “for the purpose of helping [himself] and maybe helping you.”

Apparently Perez is so depressed that he “cancelled the gym for three days” recently and started thinking “really irrational thoughts.” He explains that his depression, which is contagious, is actually caused from feeling overwhelmingly happy all the time.

He says:

“Even though I have so much to be grateful for, it’s been a rough few days. It’s been tough forcing a smile on my face when I’ve had to go out. And it’s been tougher trying to keep my mind from playing tricks on me. The brain is a very powerful and cunning creature!

Sharing this with you. Hopefully it helps some. Sharing this helped me! Much love to you all.”

“”In light of reports that severe depression may have motivated Robin Williams‘ suicide, celebrity gossip ticker Perez Hilton would like to talk about depression “”

More likely in light of the fact that depression has gotten a lot of play in the media recently, this attention whore is taking a desperate stab at getting a little bit of that attention directed his way.

    Too cynical?

  • DarkZephyr

This guy, in the last 5 years, has been aging 4 years for every one that goes by.

  • Wayne_in_NYC

@DarkZephyr: I couldn’t agree more! I was thinking as I read the headline, if my looks had gone downhill like yours has, I’d be depressed too! I agree with Cam… He’s just a big attention whore trying to milk this for all it’s worth. I’m surprised he didn’t dump a bucket of water on his head while he was at it.

  • Dxley

  • BigWoody

    Depressed? I doubt it.
    Bipolar? Possibly.
    Sociopath? Most likely.

  • Pistolo

What he describes isn’t depression. It’s just sadness, it’s stress. When will people understand that being sad isn’t the same as being depressed? Sadness is normal, depression deviates into the realm of mental illness wherein a person loses perspective and is in something of a vortex they can’t come up out of. He talked to his mom and felt better! That’s not depression, that’s a temporary rut. I’m medicated for and diagnosed with depression and I can tell you, it’s not that simple to treat. I WISH that’s all it took to get out of depression.

I’m so sick of all these blatantly NOT DEPRESSED people claiming to have struggles with depression they just miraculously overcome in a few days. Guess what? If talking to your mom, crying, and e-mailing your friends heals you that quick, YOU WEREN’T DEPRESSED TO BEGIN WITH. You were sad. Depression isn’t really an emotional state, it’s a physical and mental state. Get with it, Perez.

  • onthemark

I doubt that HIS brain is a “very powerful and cunning creature.”

  • Stache99

@Pistolo: Thank you. I’m not an expert but something was really off with this. I just didn’t think it was as simple as that.

  • Stache99

@Wayne_in_NYC: LMAO>> Oh wait. I’m not depressed anymore. Thanks Wayne!

  • MarionPaige

Remember back in the day when Nick Denton and Gawker Media revolutionized gossip? Perez Hilton and then TMZ were the first internet properties to break through “The Nick Denton Distortion Field” erected by the NYT and the inbred NYC Media. And, TMZ had mega corporate bucks behind it.

By the time the NYT acknowleged that Perez Hilton existed, he was already a nationally recognized celebrity. Fortunately, Perez’ audience is female.

    Called him out!

  • ho

    Karma baby, karma.
Went around, coming around. Imagine that Perez or whatever your name is.

  • Desert Boy

Maybe depression is the reason he’s been such an asswipe over the years?

  • Banderson

Depression is a very real thing and I really hope he’s not simply using this for more attention. He is a person who has dedicated his life to attacking people in order to grab more attention so it wouldn’t be too much of a stretch to say he’s doing it with this, but I hope not. If he is actually suffering from depression I wish him the best.

  • robho3

    He is gross!

  • vive

@Pistolo, “What he describes isn’t depression.”

Exactly. This kind of misinformation he is spreading is why people don’t take real depression seriously. It’s a similar watering down of something serious as these women who claim they are rape survivors because they had some consensual sex one time when they were a little drunk.

Depression is not anything like what he described. It is more like those feelings you have during those sleepless nights right after someone you loved dumped you, but EVERY DAY, for months or years at a time.

  • dillitex

    Psycho narcissist. LOL.

  • JimboinLA

I’d be depressed too if I had a cross eyed, test tube baby.

  • Marc

Had to cancel the gym 3 times! Oh, my. How can anyone survive that? Maybe he would feel better about himself if he put more thought into other people other than just himself.

  • Blaktarn

Does he wonder the level of depression he caused all the people he would try to destroy with his poison website. And only when he was called out on his evil ways did he decide to become a better person when he saw the winds were starting to blow in a different direction. Make real amends for your past behavior, it might help your depression.

  • lcandela123

    @Cam: yes, too cynical.

  • lcandela123

Perez, I don’t know you. I’m dismayed by the lack of empathy on this site.

Depression is something that your brain is doing to you. It is an illness, just like a cold. You didn’t cause it, and it isn’t your fault. You just need to see good doctors and get treatment. There is a beautiful world out there for you and for everybody, so don’t let an illness keep you from it. Please, please get the professional help that you need to get better. OK?

May God bless and keep you all the days of your life.

  • OzJosh

Given all the rubbish he puts out into the world, Perez should be seriously depressed. But I think we all know he’s not.

  • tardis

Let’s face it. Perez Hilton was probably the cause of a lot of people’s depressive episodes.

  • Geoff B

I am very sympathetic to those who suffer with this and other mental health issues and if Hilton is genuinely suffering with this I hope he is able to get the help he needs, but Blaktarn does make an excellent point. Maybe trying to make amends to those he has spewed poison about and those he stepped on in his own interest would be a great step towards his recovery.

  • keepcalm

I see he’s trying his hand at comedy now, and failing.

  • StephK

What Perez is suffering from is stress and total self-absorption. I have to agree that he is trying to divert some of the media focus on mental illness on to himself for attention. He didn’t go to the gym for 3 days?!? What a joke!

  • stanhope

This guy is beyond irritating. That he says he was so depressed that he skipped the gym for 3 days makes a mockery of those who are really ill. He’s a douche and his column sucks these days. It’s like he phones it in on 2 Dixie cups and a string. Can’t he go away already. He owes us for an extra 15 mins.

  • siltor67

wow now that ‘depression’ is the new ‘ice bucket challenge’ this idiot decides to claim that he knows what it’s all about. cancelling your gym membership is not a sign of depression. perez would go to the opening of an envelope..what an attention-whore.

  • MphsThomas

U.G.L.Y., you ain’t got no alibi….you UGLY….no wonder he is depressed. He never has first hand news, everything is copied from other sources.

  • Bobby Christina Crawford

I am one of the few people on this planet (or any other) that admires Perez Hilton for making something out of nothing. The fact that someone without an ounce of talent can become mildly famous and semi wealthy is what America is about.

Yet it has become clear in the past couple of years that his fame is fleeting and he is grappling and groveling to keep his brand from fading. So now ALL his actions at getting his name in print are getting lame as rapidly as he is aging.

At first I thought it was just a big joke when I read he had “missed the gym” for three days. Perhaps he will get as much of a kick from Wayne in NYC’s line about the bucket of water that he will be back at the gym on Wednesday and by Friday he will do another article on COMING OUT OF DARKNESS.

Lastly, please tell me he is not raising a child.

  • Bobby Christina Crawford

Let me apologize for the mega wordiness of the above post. Please don’t tell anyone that I wrote so many words about Perez Hilton. Now I feel depressed. Sad. Like, I am not gonna swim today.

    Wordy McWordy

  • Cam

    @Bobby Christina Crawford:

I agree with you partially. i.e. I didn’t have a huge problem with him, and I frankly liked that he shattered some of the glass closets by simply printing photos that other sites refused to, as well as what he did with the entire Carrier Prejean situation.

But yeah, now he just smells like the worlds worst cologne….DESPERATION

  • MarionPaige

Perez Hilton represents the NYC outsider rising to the status of brand. Again, consider Perez Hilton rising to the level of brand compared to what it took for Nick Denton’s blog shitpire and TMZ to establish those blogs as brands. Denton had / has The New York Times pimping him and TMZ had mega corporate bucks behind it. Rumor has it that Perez Hilton.com, tmz.com and gawker.com are all three businesses from gay men.

Rumor? The managing editor of TMZ is openly gay.
It was a collaboration between AOL and Telepictures Productions, a division of Warner Bros.

  • Roan

He’s a father with a young baby. Who’s taking care of the baby?

  • LiamCregg

Next week, he will want to talk to us about his being shot by a cop in Ferguson.

Ok. Depression is a serious issue, and while Im not going to view the clip, I’ll take it on face value. I hope he’s getting the help he needs.

  • Preston

I can’t even stomach the thought of pressing play to hear him say anything at all. I used to enjoy reading his blog until I was forced to look at him. He used to be influential, he should have stayed behind the curtain like the wizard of oz. Though, there’s nothing great about this homely looking troll.

  • wakeupscreaming
