Peter LaBarbera popped into Fox’s Hannity & Colmes last night to rail against the controversial, leather-centric Folsom Street Fair.
LaBarbera and his Americans For “Truth” are calling on Speaker of The House and San Francisco native Nancy Pelosi to take a stand against this “immoral” display of “tolerance run amok”. Sean Hannity feeds into LaBarbera’s Democratic bashing, while Alan Holmes pushes the activist on why he doesn’t turn his attention to Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, a Republican. “Because it’s Pelosi’s district,” says LaBarbera. Never mind that Schwarzenegger runs the entire state.

Colmes is the token “liberal,” but he’s got a point. These Christian wingnuts are obsessed by sex. It’s something Cecil b. DeMille used to do: give the rubes plenty of sex & sin to condemn said sex & sin.
He also made the point that they’re obviously only targeting Pelosi to score points, since they know she’s not going to give a shit about this, although he could have made more forcefully.

Anyway, let’s just wait for the inevitable scandal when LaBarbera is caught with two underage males in a hotel room.

the “why are you showing the sex that you think is wrong” is a weak defense, at best. IT IS TRUE (so don’t get me wrong) that they are OBSESSED with gay sex… but you can’t actually argue that direction successfully right from the start. any good debater knows this. i wonder if that is why they OPENED the segment with that argument.
Hannity and Colmes make Dumb and Dummer look like Shakespeare. they always depress me because out of all the brilliant (and not-so-brilliant people) on this one blog… ANY of us could argue the left AND right sides better thab those two flapping heads.
it DOES bother me that they had pictures of children as well. are children allowed where people are masturbating and fucking? does anyone think this is a bad idea?
OTHER THAN THAT… this was nothing more than a continuation of “gay boogie men are out to get you” FOX agenda. they do it on a daily basis now.
and never think of Colmes as a “medial liberal”… the idea behind H&C is similar to that of “Crossfire” where someone POSES as a liberal viewpoint, only to then get attacked and shut down… followed by the “Gee wiz beaver, guess you got me this time” line.

Dawster, I haven’t seen the photographs in question, but if there were children at FSF that is on the parents, not the participants. My partner has children and we are planning a trip to the fair next fall. You can rest assured that the kids will be staying at home.
Children have about as much business at FSF as I do showing up at a Bar Mitzvah or birthday party in my PVC skirt and 5″ stiletto boots. It isn’t like the fair is and underpublicized event, especially this year, what with all the Miller advertising brouhaha. Taking kids to Folsom is analagous to ushering them into a strip club and then feigning shock when see some breasts.

They conveniently omit the fact that the entire event is fenced off and there is an admission fee. You don’t just happen to stumble into Folsom. You’re there because you wanna be there.

Yeah, heaven forbid we should have kids at a festival that, in fact, is about as naughty as a Super Mario game. All this “We’ve got to think of the children!” bullshit is really buying the Kool-aid. You’d be surprised how easily this stuff rolls off a kid’s back.

Yeah, you’re right, hells kitchen guy. Personally, I like to get my kids really drunk & have sex with them on a weekly basis. They never remember because they’re so smashed when it happens, so I figure it doesn’t do them any harm.
