GayCities members submitted over 600 Pride photos this year in the #EqualityInColor photo challenge. But it wasn’t just about quantity. The quality made it hard for the judges to choose the winner for a grand prize: NYE Las Vegas vacation. After much ado, Blake Britton’s photo “Still a long way to go”(right) took the prize.
The story behind the picture is a true tale of Pride. While at the Rocket City event in Huntsville, AL, the snap of a camera gave Blake clarity. He realized “we really do have a long way to go for acceptance in this world.” And the photo was born.
The avid trekkie, trumpet player and self-proclaimed ginger bear was married on July 25th in Toronto, and is bringing along his husband Richard for what will be his Las Vegas honeymoon.

I’d also like to thank a few people for helping me get to where I’m at in my life, especially with my work. Ron Hogue, William Wadsworth, Eli Wright and Danny Krouse. They have provided me with the means and support for me to follow my dream of being a photographer.
