Chris Pratt kicked off Saturday Night Live’s 40th (yes, 40th…) season this weekend, and despite a few nervous hiccups from new cast members, it was a promisingly funny hour of television.
This was due in no small part to Chris’ strength as host, so how the gang does with a not-so-comedically-inclined guest star (Justin Bieber was a notoriously terrible host, for instance) remains to be seen.
But really, we’re just happy Chris was sport enough to make fun of his recent rise to Hollywood hunk status.
Like when he appeared as a scantily clad action figure and played a bit of crotch hockey. Channing Tatum would certainly be pleased.
He’s also no doubt caught on to the fact that he has quite the gay following these days.
Which is why we loved to see him in drag as a very handsome Princess Leia:
And playing a gay veterinarian’s nurse:
With Sarah Silverman set to host this weekend, SNL’s fourth decade is off to a good start. Too bad Maroon 5 will be the musical guest.

I have not watched SNL in over a decade but will have to check out this episode…

WHAT?! Has the world gone mad? He was a terrible host, awkward and unfunny. Which is not like him, I know he’s funny, but Live with that much pressure are not a condition in which he thrives. Plus SNL is still having cast and writing problems, although that new guy Peter Davidson was a bright spot (but jesus christ he makes me feel old).
