It may not quite feel like spring has sprung, but still the San Francisco Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence delivered a time-honored vernal tradition, albeit with some major modifications: The Hunky Jesus and Foxy Mary contests bloomed online this year.
The annual Easter event, normally held in Dolores Park or Golden Gate Park and attended by 10,000 or so spectators, pits scantily (and sacrilegiously, depending on who you ask) clad Jesus’ and Maries against one another as they contend to be the King and Queen of Kings and Queens, respectively.

The event was broadcast on Zoom and Twitch this year, and featured contestants from around the world.
The winners will be announced later this week, but enjoy these past and present photos from the SF Sisters’ Instagram in the meantime:
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
View this post on InstagramDear Community, It is with a heavy heart that we inform you that our annual Easter celebration (commonly known as "Hunky Jesus") will be postponed to a later date due to the current threat from COVID-19 (Coronavirus) and it will not take place at Dolores Park on Easter Sunday this year. We still don't know when the new date will be, but please keep checking our page for more information. We're terribly sad and this was a very difficult decision to make, but we're sure that this event will be even more special once it happens – don't throw your costumes away, Hunky Jesus is only postponed! We appreciate your understanding in this matter and wish everyone to be safe, healthy and full of joy!

As a believer I know that Jesus was fully human. Which means he had the same problems with his junk that we all have with ours. Hard when it should be soft, dripping when it should be dry, in need of a haircut when there’s no time. And, let me be first in line for that last supper. I could use a shot of Jesus juice to save me right now.
Okay, I also wanted to say how pathetic these men in SF are with their drag queen makeup and their mockery of everything religious. Try mocking a muslim Mary and see how far you get.
There’s a big difference between Queer and Gay. Those circus animals in SF are definitely gay. I’m just queer and have definite, well defined fantasies about Jesus the man.
Den
Whether or not one could get away with mocking Islam is irrelevant to this issue. Are you actually that dull? And your made up difference between “gay” and “queer”! Please! The only difference between the two words is that gay was adopted in the late 19th century by the “demi-monde” and was later adopted by homosexuals to refer to themselves; whereas queer was an epithet used by heterosexual who hate us, and it still is, as well as being used by essentially heterosexual people who want to perceive themselves as rebellious and special.
The anti-gay people will never call you gay except when they are trying to hide, but they delight in calling us queer. And it is still an epithet to them, they’re just glad they can use it easily. I always correct heterosexuals when they call me queer.
There is nothing pathetic about nun-drag events being used as a venue for fundraisers that net a lot of money for LGBT service organizations. And those “nuns” do good work, arguably on a par with the “brides of Jesus”. There is, however, something pathetic about a person with no sense of humor.
And for the record, if you maintain that Jesus was fully human (which I am sure he was) you are obviously NOT a believer in Christian Dogma, as one of the central tenets of faith is that he was God made human as a bodily sacrifice for all sins of Christians forever (which is pretty hard to swallow).

Very hard on the eyes. Ouch.

Once again the anglo imagine of an middle eastern man. The true likeness would that of Osama Bin Laden, then would we see sex appeal imagery?
Kangol2
Well, maybe not Osama bin Laden, but definitely not someone from Europe but more closely resembling the original inhabitants of what is now Palestine (Jesus the Nazarene, born in Bethlehem), i.e., a Palestinian, a Lebanese, a Syrian, a Jordanian, or a Sephardic Jewish person or North African Jewish person, which is closer to what Jesus actually was.

@Den. I think you’re 100 years old. I agree with Jussie. Jesus was fully human and therefore had a little thing down there (or maybe a big one) and some Jesus juice to share. Wouldn’t it be awful if God the Father sent his only begotten son to earth and that only begotten didn’t have the most beautiful big dick ever seen on the planet? I too will have some of that. Meanwhile, stop pretending to be so erudite. It ain’t working.

jesus is gay

Well alrighy then, kudos to the sexy Jeebuses and partici-pants in pants and otherwise. I’m going to add a little admonishing note to the sort trying to throw the wet rag onto this fun: San Francisco is a great refuge for LGBTQ individuals who escaped religous based torment, beatings and/or execution under the guise of “religious love”. I know, I was one of them who ran away from home at 16 to escape certain death, compared to someone i loved who wasn’t as lucky. The perps, empowered by these idiotic religions, got away with murder and walk around with red hats now.
So have all the fun you like at the expense of the pious sort. We’ve paid the price in blood.

So where were the hunks in this article? Way to much drag given the headline.
