It is a very dark day for America, especially for LGBTQ people. The country has elected a racist misogynist for President and a proud homophobe for VP. We’re in for a bumpy ride, folks.

But as discouraging as as last night’s election results might be, it’s not the end of the world. We promise. Things will be OK. As Hillary just said in her concession speech, “There are more seasons to come!”

How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.

It doesn’t matter if Trump makes it 4 years. Gays pushed too hard too quick. Look at how much they forced the population to accept in the last 10 years. It’s gotten so bad that cisgender or being straight is a black mark — something throw at you when you debate a millennial. Well a quiet resistance grew, gathered and has now arrived to storm the castle and take it back. Liberals took advantage of Americans patience and shoved it down our throat. Wether its Miley Cyrus basically F%*ing on stage or holding gay couples to higher esteem than straight couple, it all built a giant push back. It’s hear and will be around for a long long time. Gays should be worried because now there is anger and their anger has been validated. Welcome back to the REAL United States.

jt, that makes no sense. Most Americans support equality. This wasn’t a pushback against LGBT people. It was a pushback against federal establishment politics.

@jt_stephens: Forced to accept? Acceptance comes from the heart and cannot be forced. Only tolerance can. And without tolerance then… who the hell has rights?
Pushed too hard too fast? Gay marriage debate started for real in Hawaii in the 90s. When Hawaii held a special session a couple years ago to legalize gay marriage people asked why the rush? A gay couple and their child said that they were there the first time HI banned gay marriage and now the child was a grown man. A whole generation of children had grown up without the protection of marriage. Gay marriage is not a disproportionate burden on others. If after 20 years you can’t accept gay marriage that is fine, don’t get one. Some of the plaintiffs from the cases married for a short period before they died or never actually got to get legally married. How long is it reasonable to wait? Perhaps they should have to fight 100 years to get a public accomodations law like blacks did?
I don’t like alot of things on TV either but i don’t blame a political party for it. I see the world moving fast and passing me by but i’m not as bitter as you.

Don’t forget —
We go through this every 8 years or so. I remember some photos of Romney’s supporters after he lost the previous election. Unreal sadness. Now, it’s our turn.
In 4 or 8 years, we’ll be the ones ‘rejoicing once again’. It’s gonna happen. Hopefully in just 4 years. Never know.

My lifetime partner of 54 years and I got married 12 years ago where we live, in Massachusetts. Demanding equality after years of serving our country, working and paying our bills and taxes, etc. does not force our equality on the straights. “Some of the straights” pushed their ways on us and others have learned and evolved to support us. I remember when I lived in Boise, Idaho back in the 1940s and 1950s when society taught that we were sexual deviates and were a threat to them. Since the early 1970s, science has taught that we are a normal part of society and we have no mental problems. My husband, (the younger guys now use this noun to refer to their partners), and I are now both retired and living the American dream. I doubt that Trump will accomplish much, especially trying to overturn our equal rights. Last year when SCOTUS passed Marriage Equality in a 5 to 4 vote, Antonin Scalia was among the 4 against it. Now that he is gone, if Trump appoints another conservative justice to replace Scalia, that does not mean SCOTUS will overturn Marriage Equality. STAY POSITIVE!

@jt_stephens: We don’t have to go anywhere and gays don’t have to be worried. Thanks for your concern.
