PHOTOS: Anyone who’s ever seen Latter Days knows how hot two Mormons gaying it on is. There’s just something about those crisp white shirts and black trousers awkwardly going at it with thoughts of eternal damnation floating in their closely-cropped heads that really brings out the Brigham Young in us. Photographer Neil Dacosta and art director Sara Phillips tapped into this religious ribaldry with their photo series, The Book of Mormon Missionary Sex.
Missionaries Elder Kimball and Elder Searcy pose in different sexual positions from the traditional white bread missionary to more acrobatic moves, like “Drawing the Bow,” “Marc and Swing” and even utilizing props with the “Bicycle Position.” Please note that Searcy is wearing a helmet — safety first, kids.
The “Book” is open to interpretation, as the only words accompanying the photos is a passage from the LDS Handbook:
Sexual relations are proper only between a man and a woman who are legally and lawfully wedded as husband and wife. Any other sexual relations, including those between persons of the same gender, are sinful and undermine the divinely created institution of the family. The Church accordingly affirms defining marriage as the legal and lawful union between a man and a woman.
“This project means a few different things to everyone involved, but the overall goal is to start a discussion, using a visual medium, about equal rights and the separation of church and state,” Dacosta told HuffPo, adding that their goal was to “leave our description fairly open-ended” in hopes “that viewers will find their own personal meanings within the series.”

With the church making more of an effort to be inclusive of its gay members, Dacosta sees the photos’ “overwhelmingly positive” response as a sign that “the institutionalized views of past generations don’t represent our current generation’s beliefs.” He concedes, however, that “we have a long way to go still, but at least things are changing for the better.”

First of all, Latter Days was not about “two Mormons gaying it on”. Second, this photo spread has been around forever. In fact, it was trending when a certain magic underpants-wearing billionaire was running for office. But yes, it is damn hot.
