Strange objects on New York City subway platforms should typically be avoided at all cost, but one man made an incredible, if not altogether obscure, score.
Brady Marter noticed some Polaroid photographs while waiting for the C train, and upon inspection, quickly realized whom they depicted — Tim Curry, behind the scenes of The Rocky Horror Show, in full Frank-N-Furter getup.
Unless these were photos of other photos, he knew the Polaroids had some serious collector’s value. Clearly someone had accidentally dropped them.
He uploaded his epic groundscore onto the Collector’s Weekly site:
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
Founds these on the platform of the C train in TriBeCa in 2011. They are photos of Tim Curry and the cast of Rocky Horror during the making of the film. Some have writing on the back and Frankenfurter kissed the back of one.
Since whomever dropped the shots was surely scouring the internet for mentions of them, it wasn’t long until Brady got a hit:
These were part of a collection I bought from someone in New Mexico. These were used in making The Rocky Horror Scrapbook. I had it shipped to my office (I worked on the corner of Hudson and Canal) and was taking them home. A bunch fell out of my bag and I picked them up. When I got home I realized I missed one. Looks like I missed more than one! If it’s any proof, I’d be happy to show you the rest of the collection.
And like a true Manhattan fairy tale, the photos were returned to their owner, who gifted one to Brady as thanks.

@John Clerkin-Whitcomb: Where? The only mention of the pics being part of the film are in a comment made by the person who found them not the “sloppy journalists”.

The idea for Rocky Horror borrows quite a bit from Russ Meyer and Roger Ebert’s “Beyond the Valley of the Dolls”. Just your typical all-girl D+ cup rock band and their transsexual producer: “This is my happening and it freaks me out!”

I once dressed as a Sailor (official uniform) for a midnight Halloween session of RHPS in Boston. I was chosen for having the best costume at the theater during the session and they made all kinds of nice jokes about me. I got a new boyfriend there. It was lovely.

What the hell were they doing in New York when the film was made in England?

” Tim Curry, behind the scenes of The Rocky Horror Show, in full Frank-N-Furter getup.”
To the best of my knowledge, Tim Curry was never in any of the productions of the Rocky Horror Show (that is, the stage show). He was in the Rocky Horror PICTURE Show, one of the great movies of all time, but not in a stage production.
