Fresh off receiving worldwide attention for wearing (no, flaunting) a Speedo at the beach (of all places!), Luke Evans has gone Instagram official with the new love in his life.
The Welsh actor posted a video with his boyfriend, art director Rafa Olarra, and it’s pretty darn cute.
“He loves my welsh humour….no, honestly!! he does!!” Luke captioned the clip, which judging by the “hawaiimemories” hashtag, was likely shot on vacation.

You’re talking about Luke Evans? If you are then yeah, you’re confused. Luke “came out” a few years before doing anything in Hollywood and talked about wanting to be the first openly “gay” leading man and A-list actor. However, when he started to get substantial roles in Hollywood movies it seemed as if he was trying to hop back in the closet. People kept bringing up that old interview which forced him to live out. He has been “out” ever since, has never embraced a “bi” identity and as far as we know has never had a relationship with a female. This is in fact the first relationship he’s presenting to the public. He’s just been incredibly evasive, has kept his relationships private and has been somewhat awkward with his “queerdom” up until now.

There’s very little evidence of him having “affairs” with women. When he first started garnering fame in the States people assumed he was dating his female publicist, but in hindsight, that seemed like that could have been a potential beard situation which never legitimized because folks kept pushing that early career interview to the forefront. I’m not saying that there hasn’t been hetero affairs or behaviors. I don’t know if he’s contended with degrees of fluidity throughout the years. I don’t care about identity. And I don’t know the man’s sex life or exactly where he fits within the romantic, sexual, affection, emotional investment, relationship contentment spectrum. I’m just saying that it’s hard to tell what is going on with so many of these people in Hollywood because there is so much manipulation and image crafting. The only issue I have with Evans is that he was hyped to be this “proudly openly gay” actor in Hollywood, but as soon as he started to catch big breaks he completely changed his tune, became completely evasive and started to exude homo shame. I kinda doubt that he would be legitimately “out” today if he wasn’t called out early on and if he did reach A-list status. Still, let the man live.

Wow I didn’t realize that Luke Evans was gay. Usually it’s not typically a surprise, but I really didn’t call this one. Ironic as I had just watched two movies this month that had him in it that I liked “Ma” and “Anna”. Entirely coincidental that he just happened to be in both, but I remember thinking, “Man this guy is a fox.” But I assumed straight.
