PHOTOS: On Wednesday, Lips restaurant — “the ultimate in drag dining” — played host to “Night of 1,000 Midlers“, a tribute revue dedicated to the Divine Miss M. Hostess Ginger Snapt, the world’s foremost Bette Midler tribute artist Donna Maxon (above) and the luscious ladies of Lips paid homage to the Divine Miss M over cocktails and a three-course dinner with proceeds benefiting the New York Restoration Project.
Founded by Bette in 1995, the NYRP is a non-profit organization dedicated to restoring parks, gardens and open space in underserved communities throughout NYC. The NYRP latest initiative is Million Trees NYC, which is set to plant and care for one million trees in NYC after many were destroyed by Superstorm Sandy.
Guests posed with a Joan Rivers impersonator before enjoying cocktails by Absolut, Vueve Cliquot Champagne, hors d’oeuvres provided by J Kings Foodservice and dinner served by the royal flush of queens from Lips. Those in attendance also had the opportunity to bid on items donated by Midler herself, including her 2012 Hulaween Costume, signed albums, CD’s and memorabilia.
Sadly, Midler’s skirt suit from the closing scene of The First Wives Club was not among the items — despite our repeated inquiries.
Spread your wings and feel the wind beneath them as you soar through photos from 2013’s Night of 1,000 Midlers.
