Looks like the guys of Looking were off the hook from working at yesterday’s Folsom Street Fair in San Francisco and were free to just enjoy the sights.
Director Andrew Haigh snapped this photo of Jonathan Groff and Raul Castillo enjoying the sunshine and leather:
And here’s anther that shows Murray Bartlett getting in on the action:
The guys got friendly with the crowd:
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
Last season a whole episode took place at the kink extravaganza, captured by this Insta shot of Andrew Haigh:

IMO, no matter how much pr this show gets it will still suck. I watched the entire first season and it was a complete snooze fest.

@odawg:
I agree.
Seems next to impossible for the guy who directed the films Weekend and Greek Pete to produce such drivel as Looking.
I didn’t think it was possible to have San Francisco as a location and still not make it a bigger deal.
The actors are OK but seriously, aren’t any of the presented/scripted situations completely familiar to us all? Either that sort of incidents have happened to you or a good friend.
Boooorrrrrring.
Let’s face it….it’s a poorly done soap opera…..for straight people.
DivotMan
Guess I’m just a Neanderthal but I rather enjoyed it which makes since my fav TV shows are MNF, SNF, TNF. Go figure.

So is Queerty going to somehow work Looking into every article again now that it’s back?
Paco
I’m still waiting to see it.
Stache99
Some of you don’t actually have to watch the show or always post how much you hate it. It’s not required.
Xzamilio
@Stache99: Of course it’s not required… it’s not forbidden either.
Blackceo
@Xzamilio: EXACTLY!!!!! Are we only supposed to post on things we like???
Anyway….the first few episodes of Lookimg were boring as hell to me, and I was a harsh critic. The episode that kept me watching was the one where…. (Lord I done forgot the characters names) Jonathan Groff’s character and Raul Castillo’s character spent the day together on a date and it was the whole episode. Then after that it didn’t get great, but it got better to the point where it was worth my time to see it through to the finale. I’m glad Castillo is a regular now as I really like his character. I don’t particularly like Groff’s character at all. But, I really like to support gay themed shows so I’ll be watching (and complaining if I feel like it) season 2.

The show was awesome, loved every episode.
lykeitiz
The clothes they chose to wear to Folsom are as boring as their show.
imperator
Um, I like the show, and those guys’ characters, and the actors insofar as I know anything about them, but… you do realize that just setting foot *on* the street during the fair doesn’t necessarily constitute “getting kinky,” right? They look like a ton of other vanilla tourists. I don’t really see how they’re demonstrating (or ‘earning’ or even appropriating) any claim to some ‘kink’ identity or cred.

I finally got to see the show when I visited someone with HBO on demand. (I’m too poor for HBO.)
The problem is that all the main characters are a bunch of sociopaths. You pretty much have to be one yourself to identify with any of them.
stranded
lol at Raul Castillo. Hands in your pocket, clear sign of someone uncomfortable trying to look comfortable. As far as the show goes, it was just OK. Enough drama to keep me interested, but drove me crazy with it’s slow pacing. Honestly, I still need characters you either love or love to hate, this show had neither.
Geeker
Which one is the straight guy?

I feel I have to keep reminding people that Bill Fucking Maher is in his 10+ year on HBO. Is the tv show “Looking” great tv? Absolutely not. But, as long as shit like Bill Maher is getting praise on HBO, then Looking should have a place there also. Nobody in America likes Bill Maher but he’s got a tv show on HBO.
Frankly, I can’t imagine how anyone could have shot the first season of Looking and tested it on an audience and NOT have seen the obvious flaws with the show.
Stache99
@MarionPaige: Love Bill Maher. Just watched his latest show plus his stand up act immediately following. I also can’t wait for the next season of Looking.
MarionPaige
I watched Bill Maher religiously when he was on ABC because I was convinced that one night some ABC executive would burst onto the stage and drag Bill Maher’s dumb ass off the air. As it happened, it took 9/11 and Maher’s idiot comment about the terrorists for ABC to wake up. Bill Maher may have a fan here and there but, I think it is pretty much undisputed that “America” hates him, after his 9/11 comments. America hates him and he has a show on HBO in its 10+ season. Looking can’t possibly be worst than Bill Maher
Kangol
One of the dullest shows about gay life I ever watched.
Raul Castillo is hot, though.
