And what is that reason, you ask?
Come on, it’s Instagram. They’re hot. Enough said.
Meet Pittsburgh couple Nick and Justin, whose hearty American names match their good grooming practices and impossible stomachs.
They may not be serving the face of diversity, but we’d be lying to say they aren’t serving something that’s stimulated our appetite.
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
Enjoy:

OK, so they are good looking with great bods but why I am not surprised their notoriety is gained by semi-nude pics splashed across the internet. It says a lot about them and their followers. Is this the best gay guys can achieve? Or are we all meant to aspire to be underwear models, go-go dancers and porn stars?

They’re hot, not argument from me, but who *does* this– points a camera at themselves 24 hours a day (if not, it almost seems like, they have a live-in photographer whose job is just to take their pictures when they can’t find a mirror)? That’s kind of a turn-off in principle to me 😛

I mean, if were to be knighted by the Queen o’England I’d be satisfied with appearing in the newspaper but wouldn’t feel the need to Instagram it. Anyway, Elizabeth does that dopey double-hang loose, tongue out, in-yo-face thing and that’s not how I’d want to memorialize the occasion.

People hate a success story. This story is about 2 young, attractive men that obviously work hard on staying fit and celebrating the results. They appear to be in love and have fun, sexy (and obviously staged) pics to share. Rumor has it they are educated professionals and nice guys. Evidently, the ultimate American Dream of “having it all” is only acceptable if you don’t post it on social media. Granted, their story is not everyone’s ideal but there’s no reason to narrate a negative commentary if that’s the case. One week ago we all chanted “love wins” and the next week we chastise one couples personal version of it. There are more important things to debate.

Captain Obvious
@Shel-Don Legarreta: while you’re feeling sorry for an in shape, young, and very pretty white couple there are plenty of people who would never get one iota of attention for various reasons. All this really reads as is privilege and people are finally being tired of one specific type of guy getting attention, doors opened, and even getting free money simply for looking a certain way.
It certainly gets old quick when you don’t fall into the category. And believe me some people have gone as far as skin bleaching, dying hair, and straightening their hair over it… In the process risking their health. So the imagery is a problem for many. We see some living the easy life just for being born while everyone else has to get a job, be ignored, and work at something.
It’s really not about these two guys even if some posting negative comments aren’t articulating it they are tired of the theme in general. Gay media especially has always been about twinks with abs when gay Americans are so diverse.
Im all for happy couples but if these two guys were chubby they wouldn’t be getting 100k views a picture on Instagram and you can remove more points if you change anything else.
Stevenw
@Elijah Guillen: I wonder that also. Is their entire flat rigged with cameras on timer?
Rohan Patel
@Captain Obvious: Striving to be healthy and fit is not something that should garner this must hate from the gay community. If you don’t want to look at their feed, then don’t look at their feed. The majority of readers would rather view pics of good looking guys who take care of themselves than chubby men. Not that there is anything wrong with being chubby, I was chubby growing up, it’s just a preference. To be honest, shouldn’t we be encouraging men to be fit rather than unhealthy? Being fit means better overall health, longer lifespans, etc.
All of these negative comments seem to be about a lack of inclusion. However, for the last few years queerty stories about good looking, successful, gay white men are met with such vitriol and hatred that its a little deranged. I’m not talking about your comment but if you scroll up you’ll see the negative comments far outweigh the positive ones.
Also, its a bit arrogant to assume just because people are born a certain skin color that everything in life is easy for them. One of those men was a gymnast and the other is a nurse. So they do work hard. I just don’t understand what all the negativity is about on this website.
Rohan Patel
@Martin Ortiz:@Alan Malla: Agreed, I don’t get what all the negativity is about. They look happy, in shape, and if you google them they’re both hardworking professionals.

Captain Obvious
@Rohan Patel: I can’t speak on other countries but in America it’s a known fact that being white alone gives you a leg up if and only if you’re also considered physically attractive by the majority. There’s nothing arrogant about that statement… That said if you’re considered attractive at all you get a leg up no matter what you’re doing. It’s the same principle behind sex sells, people will try to get your attention by giving you something.
Now a few months back there was a heavier sports player who came out and he received nasty comments saying he should go back in the closet and we don’t want him because he didn’t look like a twink. He was brown haired and chubby. Honestly I don’t know how you can say there’s no problem in the gay community with image and body type. It’s basically Hitler’s Aryan principles running wild.
I don’t think anyone really has a problem with these two men in general as none of us even knows them. We have a problem with the nonstop barrage of athletic white guys being praised like they’re better than the rest of us. What exactly are these two doing worthy of the attention they’re getting other than being white and fit? You say it’s not because of skin tone and body type yet that’s all I’m seeing in these pictures that pretty much every other couple on the planet gay or straight has taken.
This is the same country where a blue eyed blonde guy working at Target got famous because some girl found him hot and posted his picture without permission on the Internet. A very light skinned black guy with blue eyes blew up the Internet despite a criminal record and felony conviction and he has modeling contracts waiting for him when he gets out. You think looks and skin tone don’t get you ahead?
Like I said before there are a lot of people of color who bleach their skin, hair, and put in blue contacts while you’re believing that these things aren’t getting anyone ahead. Clearly they noticed something that you haven’t. I even remember a picture of a guy who bleached his hair for Halloween and put in blue contact and his Instagram blew up… When he went back to his natural color and removed the contacts people said he looked better blonde and basically pressured him to go back to looking white despite his light brown skin.
I’ll leave you with Beyoncé who was forced by advertisers to go back to blonde or be dropped. If you have the privilege of not noticing these things it doesn’t mean they aren’t happening. History is definitely repeating itself in a country that hails itself as a melting pot of all types of people. If it was only about getting in shape that would be one thing but it’s about looking European and denying who you are to get attention and open doors… It’s damaging even if you think it’s not. No one has to even pressure people directly all they have to do is ignore everyone else and barrage us with nonstop images of white men. After a while it’s hard not to notice it if you yourself are not white and feeling invisible because of it is not pleasant. Visibility has become less of an issue in mainstream media but in gay media it’s almost always all white guys unless someone complains and then you get a random diversity for the sake of diversity bone while the larger issue remains ignored.
Like I said above though it’s not just white guys but in the gay community it usually is. The main discrepancy is how a group of discriminated men can keep discriminating and segregating instead of embracing and sharing. I’ve never seen a more segregated group than gay men with separate prides literally based on skin and ethnicity… That’s proof enough right there.

Rohan Patel
@Captain Obvious: I never said ” I don’t know how you can say there’s no problem in the gay community with image and body type.” I did say that striving to be healthy, and inspiring others to be more fit is not a negative thing. While I’m all for acceptance of all body types, the negativity towards fit people is not isolated to the gay community. In America, fat acceptance is a real movement and I think that promoting unhealthy weight is worst than men who may or may not have narcissistic qualities. It’s counterproductive to shame those that are in shape just because one prefers more average looking men. Also, to the point of chubby guys receiving hate that’s terrible. No one should receive hatred for being bigger. However, it’s not a great way to live. People in America have been claiming genetics are to blame for their larger size. I call bullshit. It’s a lack of self control and the reinforcement that it’s okay to be unhealthy as long as you feel good. Obesity is sky rocketing and people are more concerned with the healthy, hardworking, men just because they’re white. I’m not white and struggle with my weighting am an Ameircan, but yet I admire the hard work they’ve put into themselves. Your assertion that people being born white gives them an unfair advantage. That might be true but there are plenty of ethnically diverse individuals who work hard and surpass white people professionally. Just as those of us who aren’t white can’t help how were born, neither can white people. To stigmatize successful individuals based on their race is negative whether it’s the majority or minority. For people who bleach there skin and straighten their hair, that’s an individual choice. You can’t blame the world for an individual’s desire to change themselves.
Rohan Patel
@Glücklich: it’s their time but scrolling through an Instagram feed isn’t exactly a time consuming venture … So there’s that
Glücklich
@Rohan Patel:
Sure, people can do whatever they want with their time. My original comment is more critical of the look at me! look at me! look at me! phenomenon that’s overtaken our culture lately which I attribute to the rise of the famous-for-what? celebrities. Suddenly people who ten years ago would have lived in complete obscurity (where most of them belonged) are all over the media, usually at their worst. And then average people began to think their average lives warrant attention and celebrity treatment, too, and we wind up saturated with a lot of nobodies with nothing to say. I mean *really* nothing. Tweeting your baby’s clothes and instacrapping god-knows-what trivia.
Bridezillas, Housewives, Jersey Shores, Teen Moms, Honey Boo-BOOB etc. and all of the associated social media crap and TMZ/People/Us Weekly coverage that comes with that strata of the population. So, there’s that noise.
Even with all that said, happy to have invested in Feltchbook and Twitter when I did.

I’m actually super liberal and think people should just live and let live. Treat others like you’d want to be treated, etc. Yeah, when I said that it came off preachy so I apologize. I only meant that people can’t blame society for their problems that they should pick themselves up and not conform to anyone’s expectations.
I know that’s not the world we live in, I’m just sick of people whining about those who have been healthy and positive. Especially after all these republicans have been complaining about how gay people are oppressing them by existing. Why does the gay community feel the need to tear each other down?

There’s nothing to say that Captain Obvious hasn’t already eloquently stated. When have whiteness, youth, and good looks not been celebrated in this country? To that end, it’s no surprise that those traits personified and doubled would amass such a social media following. Furthermore, anyone who lives his life so much and so openly on the internet runs the risk of being criticized, so I don’t know why some commenters seem upset about that. I just hope for their sake that love is everlasting.

dubstepskater
Why is this even a debate. Some people are ok with these two guys and others are against it… Really? What are we…. straight people? We have always been judged and labeled by society (mostly straight people), so now that we have finally got Equality we are going to turn on our own? Yes, I’ll admit… these guys are hot and really doesn’t represent the entire gay population. Yes, if they were each 300 lb hairy men, they probably wouldn’t be as popular (and not featured on Qweerty). Yes, it can seem vain to post half naked pics of yourself on Instagram. BUT… if they are comfortable with the way they live their lives, who are we to judge them. I deal with stuff like this quite a bit from the older gays (I’m just 20 y/o). They seem to have “set the standards that all gays MUST live by”. Well that’s BS!!! Yes, I understand that when they were younger, they had to keep it on the DL… but does that mean that we have to conform to their standards? No… I believe if you work hard and stay fit, you have the right to show it off… Got to tell you all, HUMANS are vain people (not just gays). Looks are very important in this world whether we like it or not. I will admit, there’s been times that my looks have gotten me ahead. I don’t entirely think it’s right, but that’s just how things are. To those guys who are being negative about these two guys… Ask yourself: If these guys were in your bed, would you kick them out? (don’t think too hard because you know damn well you wouldn’t). And to those who are ok with these two… People are entitled to their opinions so it just lowers you when you argue with someone who views things different then you…
reece99
Good God, why are so many of our people so bitchie? Enjoy the pics, enjoy the looks, are you so jealous or green with envy that you can’t enjoy a good show?
I think a lot of you need to get over yourselves. Your problem is you can’t accept yourselves. you might as well be straight rednecks!
Jaroslaw
@Rohan Patel: I can’t add a lot to what Captain Obvious said so well, but extreme vanity and fitness are two different things. These guys are gorgeous to be sure but you don’t need to take it to the extreme they have to be considered fit. I know people like this and countless hours daily are spent at the gym. There are other ways to spend some of your time, less self absorbed. Another reason this resonates – I’m not envious of their looks or happiness, really. But the fact so many people “worship” these type of individuals is largely why the average guys or less than average guys like me have such a hard time dating. Everyone is looking for a Nick or Justin!
BlueDude
Always the miserable b*tchy c*nt f@gg0ts who just HAVE to heap shade & disapproval on those with good looks & happiness. I’ve been qu33r since I was four (in 1953) but I’m getting SO SICK of all the mouthy internet F@GS who just can’t STFU.

Apart from the fact they have beards, they look nothing alike. Stop trying to make this happen so you can have an excuse to barf over people’s happiness, you c*nts. And twinks, really? Both are too big and hairy for that label. Learn how to use it.
meghanada
@lauraspencer: That’s your problem. 100K disagree with you. Maybe you’re less attractive than they are, maybe less confident (I am too). Anyway, why can’t people just agree that what doesn’t feel right to them may still be fine to other people? Why must they always try to make some kind of universal rule off of their subjective preferences, like you do?
Also, if you’re a woman, as your handle implies, you’re not in the place to tell gay men how we behave and what we’re supposed to find hot. Stay in your turf. Gay male sexuality isn’t there to be consumed or policed by women.
Jaroslaw
Meghanada – relax – laura is not policing Gay male sexuality by imply questioning the need of these guys (however gorgeous) to post themselves daily/weekly. And how is her being attractive or not relevant to having an opinion?
Jaroslaw
that would be “simply”
meghanada
@Jaroslaw: “laura is not policing Gay male sexuality by imply questioning the need of these guys (however gorgeous) to post themselves daily/weekly”
That’s exactly what policing gay men is in this case, you non-genius.
These guys are gay and and are pandering to a **gay male** fan base. The opinion of anyone non-gay and non-male doesn’t matter. I swear to god, a gay man today can’t open his mouth about female aesthetics without having some half witted young woman mouth off about the evil of cis white gaytriarchy with ridiculous buzzwords such as “slut shaming”. But it’s perfectly legitimate for women to be outraged at the idea of seeing gay men portray couply cutesy, even if they’re not the target audience.
Jaroslaw
@meghanada: I should let your absurdity speak for itself but since this is an opinion forum and you don’t mind being rude by asserting I’m a non-genius here goes. You’ve completely invalidated yourself by ridiculously overreacting – Laura was not outraged at all. She expressed an opinion about their vanity and society in general about the need to be a celebrity. Since your reading comprehension is challenged I’ll spell it out for you: nowhere did she say males, Gay or otherwise cannot admire or even lust for an attractive body. Nowhere did she tell anyone else what they should do AND she reflected in different terms what several Gay males have said here. She did not police Gay male behavior.
meghanada
@lauraspencer: “They wouldn’t make it into my bed or passed the doorway”
Oh honey, keep fooling yourself into thinking they’d ever want a thing with your f**h smelling g**h to begin with.
meghanada
@Jaroslaw: Oh just STFU. One doesn’t need to announce his intentions out in the open for other people to be able to make an accurate deduction and pass on judgment. She doesn’t have to say “I’m forbidding you gay men…” for me to notice that she’s slinging mud at a cute gay couple for doing something as outrageous as… delighting their gay fandom with pictures of their life as a couple. Probably resentful they would never scratch where it is itching for her but whatever. Whatever inspires her is misguided and she should STFU. And if all she’s saying is stuff other gay posters have also said, then she’s contributing nothing to debate – let them speak, because what gay men do among one another is a subject that by definition a woman can have no valid opinion about.
lauraspencer
@meghanada: @meghanada:
If you are “meghanada” as your handle implies then who are you to talk about male sexuality?
I’m a man. Even if I weren’t I could still have an opinion and a voice. Seeing that you commented only on my postings shows that you simply read the most recent comments and attacked. Many previous posters made similar comments and you said nothing.
And yes, I do have confidence. I am attractive. Maybe not the same way and to the same people as these two men on instagram, but I do just fine. NO, 100 thousand people do not disagree with me. Simply having a twitter follower or intstagram follower doesn’t mean you “support” them. I’m responding to you right now and I don’t “support” you.

You do realize BlueDude who posted above isn’t really navy, turquoise or periwinkle and that Cheetah69 isn’t really a tiger posting from Africa?
Jaroslaw
@meghanada: Thanks for responding – you just get more absurd and rude. I can say STFU too, proves nothing other than you can’t argue the issue. Sometims a cigar is just a cigar. What defines excessive vanity is a matter of personal opinion which is why these blogs have places to comment. If you disagree, fine. But this is not homophobia or “policing Gay male sexuality.”
