Spirit Day was first started by GLAAD in 2010 in an effort to raise awareness to LGBTQ bullying. Individuals, schools, organizations, corporations and public figures all wear purple, which symbolizes “spirit” on the rainbow flag, in support of LGBTQ youth.

YAAAS. it’s a simple and clear way to let kids our there know that there’s a world of people who will love and support them, even if their families and home communities will not.
let’s see how many republicans did this today, eh?

It makes me happy that the Obama administration (as much as they dragged their feet) have set a precedent for LGBT rights that all administrations after will have to keep that momentum going… unless the Republicans get in there, in which case, get ready for some heavy duty draconian legislation!!
