A security guard at West Hollywood nightclub Mickey’s landed in the hospital early Friday morning following a violent knife attack by a bar patron.
As the guard escorted the suspect from the bar just after 1 am, the patron in question pulled out a folding knife and began stabbing the security officer in the back.
Police were called to the scene, as were paramedics. Officers detained the suspect in handcuffs, while medics bandaged the bleeding security guard. According to a police statement, the victim sustained two stab wounds, though neither appeared life-threatening. After initial treatment at the scene, an ambulance transported him to the hospital for further treatment.
At the time of this writing, police have not released further details as to why security escorted the suspect from the bar, or whether he was under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time.
