Yahoo asked 1,000 people if they would watch NBC’s Today episode featuring the winners of the wedding contest if they are gay — which is now an (unlikely?) option after all that drama. (The poll is now closed; 88% said they would watch.) But, uh, what about a poll asking whether you’d watch the episode if the winners were straight?
Yes, I stole this idea straight from a commenter on the Yahoo poll. But answer it anyhow.

No.
I don’t watch The Today Show, and I’m not about to start now…

The Today Show is complete garbage and I’d rather watch my own mother be ripped to pieces by wolves that watch that Crapfest.

Ugh! All those morning shows are a complete waste of time. CBS is the worst. I get the feeling Matt Lauer is a big homophobe. And don’t get me started on fat Al !!

I honestly can’t remember the last time I saw a morning show. If I knew that a gay couple had won the contest, I might make it a point to watch that particular broadcast. But, quite possibly I wouldn’t make a big deal out of it.
At the same time, part of me would be second guessing NBC’s intentions if a gay couple won it this year. Part of me believes that their awarding it to a gay couple would be insincere. I guess that I would also be expecting them to be milking it for all it’s worth, taking credit for being so open minded, etc. Too bad they had to be dragged kicking and screaming into opening it up to gays.

That “Today Throws a Wedding” segment is dullsville. Every year when they announce it, I write them an email telling them I’m changing the channel. Gay or straight, I don’t care to watch complete strangers plan their wedding.

I don’t like watching people I know get married, why would I want to watch complete strangers get married? No.

I turn off anything to do with the wedding baloney, every year for several years now. Why should I participate in my own oppression? Same with Valentines… it just becomes impossible to ignore how much we just don’t exist in the minds of most straight people.
I’m not humorless… I just can’t be bothered.

The Today show proved they are as irrelevant as The View and all those shows cattering to the “old birds” retired on a lazy boy somewhere in Florida. The rest of us live in the real world where gay couplings are common place and do occur!
