It’ll be a battle to the finish in California, where socially conservative voters are hoping to turn back gay marriage through Proposition 8.
The most recent numbers indicate a near even split in the Golden State, but the “Yes on 8” side still has a slight advantage:
…The measure is favored 48% to 45% among likely voters questioned in an Oct. 17 poll by Survey USA of Verona, N.J. The poll’s margin of error, four percentage points, means the results were a statistical tie.
A group leading the fight against the measure, Equality for All, said this week that one of its internal polls shows Proposition 8 leading by four percentage points. The close results of that poll, too, may suggest a dead heat as the Nov. 4 election approaches.
Those of you looking to preserve gay marriage in California must head over to the No on 8 website and send them some cash money. Or, more importantly, urge your West Coast chums to vote against Proposition 8.

NOPE! (No On Proposition Eight)!
Brian
We must win this fight. The Mormon Church has donated 40% of the Yes on 8 funds that have come in, and the Knights of Columbus have donated well over a million dollars as well. Out of state money is helping to tilt this election towards “yes,” and if we lose here it will set back our cause throughout the country. Even if you don’t live in California, please, please consider donating something, anything, to help defeat Prop 8. If you do live in California, please also consider phone banking. It’s remarkably effective — and even a little encouraging. You cand get details at http://www.noonprop8.com.

Queerty, is there any moderating on this site? I’m looking at No. 1, please.
Meantime: NO ON 8. Send money, and VOTE. I’m seeing WAY too many of those yellow-and-white (papal flag colors, anyone?) yardsigns and bumperstickers for comfort.

Some Evangelical Ministers see through the nonsense and urge a NO vote on Proposition 8

I think that No on 8 would be in a better position if they were running their campaigns better. I live in West Hollywood and there are always No on 8 volunteers on the street trying to “get the word out”. HELLO! You don’t need to get the word out in West Hollywood, you need to be in Compton or Chinatown or any bourgeois suburb. You need to be informing people who know nothing about Prop 8, not a bunch of fags in WeHo. Also, although I’m a big fag and obviously against Prop 8, I do find that the Yes on 8 TV ads are much more entertaining and informative than the No on 8 ads. If I knew nothing about the Proposition I would be much more swayed to vote yes because of the better ads.
