I appreciate Micheal S. but really how long can you listen to out? It’s depressing to even suggest one man with one long annoying note can possibly represent our community. why aren’t there more diverse programs on OutQ, it’s like listening to 24/7 yestergays beating dead horses with sexual puns and tired pop references from my childhood.
We deserve a Maddow, or Cooper of our own and a grown up approach to our community. I’m a married gay man with three children under three, I work internationally and sadly I see the gay community losing relevance everyday. looking at our blogs, failing magazines, local rags,dedicated TV and radio networks, I’m not finding much substance. It’s all so mired in the past, stuck in the sex and frankly feels like one of those “ick” factor adventures to Numbers or the Townhouse my friends and I would make in my younger days.

@two daddies:
Don’t you think this is a generalization? Surely you can’t say that Pam’s House Blend, Americablog, or Andrew Sullivan are all about sex, sex, and more sex? All three sites are political blogs that focus on politics.
Queerty is a general lifestyle blog. It’s mixture of politics and froth. Japhy and Cord Jefferson have done a great deal to elevate things.
I don’t disagree that Sirius OutQ sounds like a heaping pile of stink if it is ignoring the inauguration. Frankly, as a media outlet, how hard would it be for them to interview out gay politicians, queers of color, and others? Surely, someone there could have gotten Tammy Baldwin or Wanda Sikes on the phone. Why not interview a gay immigrant to ask about what it means to see the son of an immigrant elected as president?

Also, while it is American-based, OutQ caters to an international audience that, in all probability, does not want a play-by-play of everything that is happening at the inauguration. After all: a recounting of events would kind of suck over the radio; watching it on TV makes it all the more interesting.

Good for them. This inauguration is over-hyped and over covered.

I tried listening to Sirius OutQ for awhile, because in my neck of the woods (Colorado) gay anything is novel.
It’s filthy, denigrating, full of inside jokes that an average listener can’t possibly understand, and has very little value to our community.
The content intended to be funny isn’t, the content intended to be news is old or biased beyond belief, or both – and there is damned little that could be called news.
The nearest thing I can think of is put a half-dozen copies of gay Howard Sterns on drugs and then give ’em a radio show. That’s about all you’ll hear.
There’s a boatload of good stuff that should be on a national medium like Sirius OutQ. It’s a shame the resource is totally wasted.

@Smokey Martini:
The election and inauguration have been amongst the main hot topics on the UK LGBT forums I frequent.

@tavdy79:
Even more reason for them not to cover it.
You know, since everybody else seems to be doing it…

@blake:
Perhaps, but as with most generalizations there is some truth here. My complaint is simply that OutQ is lame and irrelevant. I wish there was some fresh new voice or direction from the gay media but I’m not finding it. Queerty is great, pam’s house blend, no problem, but seriously, these are rare, not norms.
OutQ needs a good re-thinking
