April has arrived, and with it, a whole bunch of new (and archival) content on Netflix. We’ve done a quick overview of the queerest and queer-adjacent stuff we’re looking forward to streaming this month. (For a comprehensive list of what’s coming to the platform, go here.) Now, prepare to set your watch lists…
A Cinderella Story (April 1)
Hillary Duff, Jennifer Coolidge, and Chad Michael Murray star in this kiddie rom-com that somehow still manages to have a die-hard following.
Inception (April 1)
Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Hardy, and Elliot Page lead an all-star cast in this thriller about dreams and mind control from Christopher Nolan.
Monster-in-Law (April 1)
Jane Fonda, Jennifer Lopez, and Wanda Sykes head up this slapstick comedy about a mother-in-law from Hell.
We The Animals (April 1)
This gentle drama about a young gay kid growing up in a tumultuous family made a splash on the festival circuit back in 2018.
Elite Season 5 (April 8)
The Spanish-language teen drama returns, finding gay boys Ander (Arón Piper) and Omar (Omar Ayuso) entangled in a new mystery.
White Hot: The Rise & Fall of Abercrombie & Fitch (April 19)
This documentary revisits the Abercrombie & Fitch fad of the 90s and 2000s, and the bizarre story of two gay men that obsessively managed the brand.
Russian Doll Season 2 (April 20)
Natasha Lyonne and queer star Charlie Bennett return to this very weird series. After reliving the night they died over and over, Nadia and Alan land in another adventure that sees them traveling through time and encountering a danger greater than they ever anticipated.
Heartstopper (April 22)
A pair of British schoolboys fall madly in love and must navigate student life and young adulthood together.
The Mystery of Marilyn Monroe: The Unheard Tapes (April 27)
This documentary takes a look at the circumstances surrounding the death of Ms. Monroe using never-before-heard recordings of the people that knew her.
Grace and Frankie: Season 7 (April 29)
Lily Tomlin and Jane Fonda return for a final season about two besties coping with senior life after both their husbands came out as gay.

Finally the reunion of 9 to 5 on Grace and Frankie! I have been waiting for this for months since they went on hiatus!

Is Dolly finally making her appearance?

I think you mean Charlie Barnett not Charlie Bennett.

I was too old to care about Abercrombie back in the day. The only thing I remember about it was the nasty smell coming out of their store in the mall, plus I couldn’t understand how anyone could carry around a shopping bag with naked boys on it but it, never bothered me. I must have missed all the lawsuits and the mess surrounding it so I think I’ll watch this documentary. I mean, are they still around?

I was in college during the A&F fad. Everywhere you went you would smell that awful cologne called Woods or something like that. Funny enough I went to a vintage clothing store that was actually selling it. So, I am not old, I am vintage.

I have watched the first 4 seasons of Elite, three times over the past year or so. I am really looking forward to Season 5. Didn’t really like the way Omar was treated in Season 4 when his BF left town. I would rather Omar find someone new, but I’m probably out voted!!

The Omar thing pissed me off so much that I stopped watching season four. I do plan to finish it, but no, you are not alone in feeling that way.

The first season of Elite was just so-so. I waited a long time before watching Season 2 and I am so glad I came back. Seasons 2, 3 and 4 are all quite good and quite gay.
