LGBTQ+ people often struggle to access healthcare and when they do they do, they may encounter bias in the exam room or a lack of knowledge around their specific needs. Jona Tanguay is an LGBTQ+ primary care provider who’s experienced these disparities themselves and is working to help the community. At a federal level, Adm. Rachel Levine, the first transgender Assistant Secretary for Health for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, is working to address healthcare issues that LGBTQ+ people face all across the country.
