After being “destroyed” on Meet the Press on Sunday by National Review editor Rich Lowry, the Drudge Report picked up a piece detailing her alleged destruction by conservative dishrag NewsBusters.
Maddow, however, has been around the block enough times to know that haters gon’ hate and responded accordingly:

I am gay, but what on earth prompts lesbians to dress like they live inside a beaver dam in the UP,if they are attracted to women, why pretend to be a guy, dressed like a guy with bad taste? Men’s glasses, men’s hair cuts, men’s wallets and requesite chains. I have issues with gay men who dress like sterotypical women, just as I do lesbians in flannel, denim and work boots while never going further north then west 51st street. Maddow is a lez, big deal, now she needs to quit playing dress-up to annoy the peeps who look at her is such disgust and distain. Surely she has a color she likes, other than black?

Part of the base of the Democratic party are elderly and retired people. Making cuts to Medicare or Social Security would almost certainly be counterproductive when trying to appeal to this base. I think he was just trying to get her to confirm how unappealing it seems to make these cuts. She wouldn’t give him the pleasure of doing so. That hardly means she was destroyed. He simply put her into a position where she could not confirm that obvious, that making cuts to Medicare is unpopular with Democrats- no matter how necessary such cuts may be.

She zinged him a few times, and he wouldn’t let her speak for the rest of the segment. The host finally cut him off by going to a remote correspondent to keep him from looking any more foolish.

In my opinion there is hardly any mens clothing a woman can wear to make her look like she’s in male drag, an exception would be a full-blown man’s suit: coat, tie, pants and shoes. I see women in mens clothes all the time, levi’s, work shoes, jackets, baseball caps, wallets, and no one even bats an eye.But let a man try wearing womens clothing in public, well that’s a whole differnet ball of wax. David Gregory is a more than competent *reporter* and occasional *commentator*, but as “Meet the Press” *host* his is just awful. Mostly he’s just star-stuck when one the the luminaries starts to speak, they just go on and on unchallenged by Gregory. In the Maddow / Lowry exchange, there were any number of times that as a neutral host he should have intervened and said something like “Lowry, you’ve made your point and now are repeating yourself, let Maddow answer”.
Or he could have said, “Lowry, you’re a douche.”
