Sen. Cory Booker found himself the target of an ugly antigay smear over the weekend. And it seems to only be getting uglier.
It all started when anonymous person claiming to be a “liberal, gay man” on Twitter claimed Booker sexually assaulted him in a workplace bathroom in 2014, shortly after Booker was elected to the US Senate.
“Being a hero is a serious turn-on,” Booker allegedly told the man before groping him. “The Senate appreciates fine citizens like you. Especially this senator.”

The accusations were so over-the-top and ridiculous that not even FOX News’ resident homophobe Laura Ingraham believes them. On her program last night, she said, “I don’t like it when people do this kind of stuff. I believe it is a smear.”
But that hasn’t stopped racist homophobes from taking aim at Booker on social media, creating the disparaging hashtag #BathroomBooker and directing all sorts of awful slurs at the 49-year-old senator, including calling him a “homosexual pervert,” a “degenerate bathhouse f*g”, and a “thug/f*g”, among other things.

That shows their understanding of the Kavanaugh issue. When these allegations come to nothing, they’ll complain that Booker was given a free pass. That’s how stupid they are. Anonymity sadly does not make for credible accusations. If it did, then MeToo would have never needed to happen. I’m sure all of those survivors would have loved to remain anonymous while naming their assailants, but that’s a big part of why most rapes go unreported and untried.
I maintain that the only people who constantly harp on about the dangers of false accusations post-MeToo, are the people who would be willing to make false accusations for political or personal revenge. I would love for Sen. Booker to publicly call for an FBI investigation into this accusation, only to be met with silence when whoever decided to play pretend realized that their false accusations might land them in serious trouble, since this would constitute libel and knowingly lying to the FBI is a federal crime.
I still am astounded that gay rumors about Booker have abounded just because he’s approaching 50 and unmarried, while Sen. Lindsey Graham can act like Ms. Scarlet with the vapors on national television and we just politely pretend like he just hasn’t found the right gal.
