Bradley Larson, who was bartending at Ft. Worth’s Rainbow Lounge the night it was raided by police, died in the early morning hours Sunday in a car accident. Police say it may have been alcohol-related, and the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (which aided in the bar raid) has been notified about the death; investigators want to know if Larson was drinking at a bar beforehand. He was 41.

Reading the report, it is clear he brought it upon himself – he hit the back of a 18-wheeler at 100mph while probably being stoned out of his mind.
Looks like Darwin’s natural selection at work here.

If he was driving drunk, this is not a tragedy. If he was driving and drunk and killed someone else, that would be a tragedy (for the ones he killed). If he was not drinking and driving and was killed by drunk driver, that would make it a tragedy. At some point, society has to stop ascribing certain levels of honor to the stupid and senseless acts people engage in. There is no justification whatsoever for getting behind the wheel after drinking. Everyone knows it is a crime and is wrong. If they still choose to do so, they suffer the consequences, even if that means death.

@prissysissy:
Aren’t you a prize. It’s not darwin’s natural selection (he doesn’t own it, and it has undergone radical change since he first conceived of it, and will continue to because of evolution). It’s natural selection.
This is a tragedy because it’s was needless whatever the circumstance. And it’s particularly abhorrent to assign blame when a person is dead IN ORDER TO justify a lack of compassion.
No excuse for getting behind the wheel while drunk? What about drag racing? That’s not fun sober.

@Duane: People could, and do say the same about having unprotected sex.
A little heavy on the judgement, there, I think.
I hope he doesn’t have a partner who read what you wrote.

@BobP:
Brad’s partner died last year.
Many people love Brad, and to see writings of judgement is distressing. I lived under the same roof with Brad for 15 years. Can a person that never met Bradley justify making a judgement? By what authority? Your own????
Please have some respect for those left behind.
