Rapper Azealia Banks Calls Perez Hilton “Messy Faggot” Who Should Kill Himself

Another musician is in trouble for comments made on social media: Rapper Azealia Banks got into a Twitter battle with gossip queen Perez Hilton yesterday, calling him “a messy faggot” and “dickbreath” and suggesting “[you] should just kill yourself.”

It all started, ironically, when Hilton—who’s sworn off the hateration himself—criticized Banks for feuding with other artists. “Some of your music is cute, but your attention-seeking ways are pathetic and hurtful. You drag while others choose to uplift!”

Banks, who is reportedbly bisexual, replied, “Whatever bitch, you tried to sign me to ur little bum ass label in ’11 with them bullsshit ass artists…” and later tweeting, “omg u should just kill yourself… Like for real… lol what a messy faggot you are.”

Don’t call GLAAD just yet, though. Banks insists she wasn’t insulting gay men: “A faggot is not a homosexual male,” she tweeted. “A faggot is any male who acts like a female. There’s a BIG difference…. When I said acts like I female I should’ve said acts like a c*nt.”

Okay, so you’re not insulting gay men—you’re insulting women. That’s sooo much better, Azealia.

“My most sincere apologies to anyone who was indirectly offended by my foul language,” Banks tweeted before going to bed. “Not sorry for Perez tho. Lol.”

    What an idiot.

  • 2eo

I am directly offended Ms. Banks, not only is your music shit, your attitude is shit and your apology is shit.

Kill ‘Yoself, whore. The world is better if you were dead. End of.

  • Guillermo3

Between too many comments by too many rappers and Uganda, hateful racism is begging to sound reasonable.

  • IzzyLuna

Perez says that this girl’s “attention-getting ways are pathetic”…? Didn’t he show up at many an event with a jacket and no shirt showing off his creepy, bronze, shiny, plastic abs? Blah!

  • SteveSE

Bless her, probably the only way she can make headlines by behaving like ignorant trash.

I sincerely hope her record label take a long hard look at any potential future involvement with them.

  • Shadeaux

{If it looks, walks, and quacks like a duck…} Didn’t he get in trouble not too long ago saying he should have called someone the “N-word” and got punched for saying it? He’s not very careful with his words either and for some reason he thinks he can say whatever he wants and expect those he goes off on to send him roses. I don’t know that Banks bitch but Perez saying someone is pathetic and seeking attention is like “pot and kettle”.

  • Niall

@Shadeaux: Actually he called Will.I.Am a faggot and got punched out for doing so. Yeah he’s a big hypocrite

Almost anyone else, and I’d be offended at this, but anyone who brings down the filth that is Perez Hilton is fine in my books.

  • Jack E. Jett

Perez has come a long way from his days of bitchy hate. I am sure he has lost some
$$ along the way. And don’t forget him calling out that Ms America cunt for her
    anti gay marriage shittalk.
I am sick and tired of black rap artist and white country music singers getting
away with using the word “faggot”.

  • Jack E. Jett

@IzzyLuna: There is a little difference between wearing something trashy to an event and calling for the death of someone.

  • balehead

Well he is a homophobic cliche’… and She probably could beat him up!!….

  • balehead

Anybody who feels sorry for Perez is a moron…Perez is known to accuse/call masculine straight actors this alot.. there just aren’t alot of camera phones around to record it…he is definitely not a victim…

  • Brian

Azealia Banks seems to be one of these homophobic bisexual women that I’ve noticed a lot of recently. They are homophobic because they have no connection to the GLBT cause.

It seems counter-intuitive that a bisexual woman would be homophobic but it shouldn’t really surprise. Look closer at them – their bisexuality is often an artifice invented by straight guys for the purpose of titillating straight guys and does not reflect any connection to our cause.

  • Saint_Nunya

Forget this lol. Perez is a messy [email protected], he’s just awful.

    Truth to power girl!

  • FStratford

I dont care for Perez Hilton. If someone insults him, I wont take it personally. He IS a c*nt.

  • Red Meat

I can’t resent her, I have called Perez the f word in my mind many times before while surfing the internet.

  • PRINCE OF SNARKNESS aka DIVKID

Banks has done this too many times … received the benefit of the doubt too many times.

While not alway so explicit she makes constant reference to particular male enemies being “Soft” or feminine; not masculine enough to meet her standard of what’s respectable in the rap game or perhaps even black society generally. For her it’s the ultimate diss.

This is not some post-modern ironic shit this is same old anti-progressive hatred. She knows the difference because she’s called bullshit on how racism masquerades as irony re: Dolce and gabbana plantation “mammy” earrings when she called for a boycott.

Likewise, therefore, she’ll understand if we call for a boycott on her messy ass.

Oh and sorry, pulling the queer membership card don’t work here. Maybe if you’re criticising other bisexual women… but even then why? (And that’s even assuming you actually are family) So yeah, licence muthafukin revoked

Shame though, she was mad talented … I used to be a fan.

PS Perez Hilton’s utter contemptibility is entirely beside the point.

  • Brian

If Azealia had simply said that Perez Hilton is a douchebag, I would have applauded her. However, when she added the homophobic slur, she lost me.

  • Liberace

@Guillermo3: You sir are f***ing idiot. What race might I ask do you think the gays in Uganda are?

  • 2eo

    @Liberace: Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

You see that, that’s the blinding obvious point you missed by a very wide berth.

  • Aidan8

So, as a gay man…. I can call Perez Hilton a faggot?
As a black woman… Banks can’t call him a faggot?
Is it wrong or right? Is it a double-standard? Is it latent-racism at play? Who knows?
    It’s worth asking what’s going on here…

Then again, Hilton is an idiot and Banks’ “music” sucks…

    Maybe it’s not worth asking…

  • Brian

    Aidan8,

Actually, both are wrong. Two wrongs don’t make a right.

  • PRINCE OF SNARKNESS aka DIVKID

Jesusfuckinchrist, some gay people need to rediscover some pride and dignity!

Same way Ms Banks has, rightly, got the back of black folks against racism we shouldn’t demand any less of her or her rivals — of whose fan bases we form a significant proportion.

People, this is about self-worth; and that means not giving a flying one if it makes us look like killjoys cuz we’re refusing to play prancing queer minstrels to these women even as they’re kicking us…while taking our cash.

Frankly, as fans we deserve better — and they as entertainers promised us better.

  • Rockery

That sucks, I was just getting into her stuff too, but I read the tweets on other sites and she actually states in the tweets that she is bisexual (and in 212 she clearly talks about seuxal relations with a girl) But then again I love “liqourice” and it is laced with the n-word. She clearly uses slurs of which all groups she considers herself a part of. Perez uses f*ggot all the time too, is it OK for him as gay to use it but her as bi not too?

Both of them are attention whores and should stay off of twitter

  • Guillermo3

@Liberace: It remains to be seen ,whether I’m san idiot[fucking,or otherwise],Liberace, but you,Liberace, are OBVIOUSLY a FUCKING IDIOT,and so is your brother George.
It goes without saying that the overwhelming majority of Ugandans,of whatever sexual orientation are black,African, persons of color,or whatever nomination you prefer, most of whom speak Luganda, the language after the country is named.
My point[although explaining it to a moron like yourself]e was not that racism is any anyway good, but that too often, race and homo-hatred are linked.Hence the ugly and all to frequent homophobic comments by some rapperers/hip hop artists and both in the U.S. and abroad by some black,or African nationalists who call the “perversion” of homosexuality as a White Man’s disease inflicted on other, presumably “innocent ” races. If you want to see horrendous, overt racism[even making liberal use of the “N-Word”] look at the readers’ comments on the events in Gay Star News,a British on-line publication.
A lot for a fucking idiot to digest,I realize,Liberace, but withGREAT EFFORT,perhaps you eventually will.

  • Fidelio

Dickbreath??? Bahahahahaha…bitch may be cray cray, but that was kinda hilarious.

  • PRINCE OF SNARKNESS aka DIVKID

@trulyOUTRAGEOUS: Yeah, okay, but she’s not on yours.

  • 2eo

I think in the quest to judge me by some arbitrary standard you think I am bound too, mostly because you’re too stupid to accept that very simple fact.

I will use any excuse to attack shit music, I can and will judge on the quality of their music if they call themselves musicians, and Banks is dire, absolutely dire. Anything that gets rid of the music gets my support.

  • Brian

Azealia can say whatever she likes but she appears to be homophobic rather than merely caustic. I might occasionally accept the f word in certain circumstances but the way she said it and the preamble to it sounds rather profoundly homophobic to me.

  • PRINCE OF SNARKNESS aka DIVKID

    *flushes*
…Ladies and gentlemen…Azealia Banks’ career has left the building!

  • Brucek99

Too many black rappers think nothing of using homophobic comments in their day to day speech and in their music. Unfortunately the by product is the example it sets on the young, black community. There is no defense for what Azealia did but at the same time it’s difficult to feel any sympathy for Perez. He is the bane of the LGBT community with his bully blog and his past outing of people. He to this day uses his blog to get at people he personally doesn’t like. I wouldn’t mind seeing him go away.

  • NYCmidnightsnack

Has our civilization sunk so low that we are discussing the opinions of the likes of Hilton, Azealia or Fantasia (add your own favorite)? I like that pithy saying: opinions are like a*&hole%, everyone has one.

Now let’s move on and do something productive with our own lives.

  • iBLOW

This website is SOOOOOO flip floppy didn’t y’all have a article about how much you all loved her new song on here like TWO days ago. I mean I really like her music and its not like she called me a faggot or whatever. And to whoever BELIEVES she is a BISEXUAL is a dumb ass, it’s her gimmick just like how it was Nicki Minaj’s when she first came out, now she’s saying she doesn’t have sex with anybody which makes no sense since her boyfriend is like her manager or Hype man.

  • Brian

    iBLOW,

Good point about Nicki Minaj’s fake claim to be being bisexual. I forgot about that. Let’s not forget Katy Perry and her I Kissed A Girl as well as all the other female singers who invent their bisexuality for the purpose of marketing.

When is the gay community going to realize that these women harm our community? Stop buying from them. It’s the very least we can do.

  • jonasalden

to be fair, Samuel #8, I don’t think her race is an issue in this little spat. Her bisexuality makes her comments somewhat ironic, but her race? Unrelated.

  • SteveSE

I have to say I’m just a tiny bit shocked that so many people think it fine and dandy to use a pejorative term like faggot, if its directed towards someone that have a personal dislike for (in this case Perez Hilton).

I must have read the rules wrongly. I apologise. I had absolutely no idea we could tailor tolerance of homophobic behaviour around the peculiarities of our own likes and dislikes of people.

Of course if I didn’t read the rules wrong, some of the comments on here kind of smack of double standards …..

  • jonasalden

Oh, I get it. You weren’t hurling one of your own, but stating that her bisexuality AND her race (as a double minority) makes her pejorative comments all the more distressing. If so, I stand corrected, and would like to add another comment. The gay community seems not to realize that these “divas” and their much-imitated bitchiness are actually detrimental to the movement. Many of them sooner or later do the equivalent of uttering the N-word and think their entitled to because they’re “down” with the community (if only because they benefit socially or profit from their fan base withing it). Thoughts?

  • Spike

Hey Queerty, what’s with throwing around the term FAGGOT all over your site, allowing multiple comments to reference the term FAGGOT multiple times . . . FAGGOT . . . FAGGOT . . .FAGGOT, however any reference to this black female rapper as a n_gg_r, and the comment is immediately censored/deleted?!!?

Apparently you folks condone and/or have no issue with the continued use of the derogatory term FAGGOT as it involves queer/gay men. Just curious, how many FAGGOTS do you have working at Queerty?

  • Samuel

@Jack E. Jett: Is it possible that as a black woman who probably uses the N word and doesnt think it is derogatory, she used the F word to call a fellow LGBTQ person, a fag; and didnt really think it was a big deal.
